When I was a young girl, I used to imagine I was adopted. This had
nothing to do with loving my parents and family, which I did. I
think it was one of the many steps in dealing with the life questions,
“Who am I” and “Who do I belong to?”
Later in my life, I met people who were actually adopted, and one
said the experience of being adopted gave him a much clearer sense of
belonging than I knew. “Someone chose me,” he said. “A family
wanted me to belong to them and they wanted to belong to me.”
Whenever I read today’s section of Paul’s Letter to the Romans, I remember my friend and my own wondering. The questions
of who we are and whose we are don’t go away as we get into adulthood. New schools, new jobs, and new family situations bring
those questions into our minds, sometimes with a force that surprises us.
There are times we feel as if we have lost ourselves and lost our
way. On other occasions, we might feel alone. When those moments
come, all we can do is trust that someone does love us and calls us
to be our best selves.
In his letter, Paul reminds us who we are—the adopted children of God—and in the process he also reminds us whose we are.
We belong to God, and we are grounded in this real- ity by our
baptism in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
God, in his being, is a love relationship. Is it any won- der
that our belonging grounds us in the dark times and gives us
joy in the others. Is there anything else we need to know?

Christ revealed to us the Father, the
Spirit, and Himself: the Three Persons or the Holy
Trinity. And as the Holy Trinity works in us, we respect our own individual selves by realizing that
each of us is unique, incomparable being. Realizing
this, we develop our unique iden ty, which leads us
to sense of self- esteem. Another thing that we
should be aware of is that each of us is loved by
God in a most personal way. Hence, regardless of
how others treat us, and regardless of our own
weaknesses and needs, we are totally known and
loved by the One who really ma ers. This belief
gives us a deep sense of dignity as a person of
las ng worth. Being endowed with talents and
unique abili es, we don’t care for others ‘approval
any longer. God has already made us persons of
limitless value and beauty.
The above realiza ons cause us to respect
ourselves by developing out talents, our unique
gi s. However, this calls for courage, perseverance,
self-control, and not to make compromises
(unworthy ways to achieve).
We respect the dignity of others by trea ng
them with true understanding and considera on.
What we desire of us, we desire for others, too. We
fail as we bear a grudge, by unjust anger, by showing prejudice, by commi ng verbal and physical
abuse, or being happy of the misfortune of others.
And, why should we respect ourselves and
others. It is because God the Son became one of us.
Saint Paul in Romans 8: 29 says: “God the Son is the
firstborn among many brethren”. Thus, man is wonderful indeed for man is created in God’s image.
Because of the Holy Trinity in us, our earth
is now especially sacred and worthy of our best
efforts to make it a be er place. A realiza on that
we have had God the Son among us, with the Father
and with the Holy Spirit (the Helper), is enough
thought to inspire and strengthen us.

SECOND COLLECTION– NEXT SUNDAY
Priest Retirement Fund
Next Weekend at each Mass all parishes throughout
the Archdiocese of Los Angeles will be asked to give
generously to support the Retirement Fund for Archdiocesan Priests. Currently, the fund provides for
more than 100 priests who are retired. Over the next
ten years, that number is expected to increase significantly. With minimal compensation, and in many
cases, no pension, these men often retire with nothing to fall back upon. Your contributions can change
that. Help us offer thanks for their years of devotion
to God, and faithful service to our parish communities.

To baptize a Child under the age of six
years, parents should register the child at
least two weeks in advance and bring his/her
Birth Certificate or Certification of the Hospital. Baptisms are performed the Third Saturday of the month at 12:00 noon. Parents
and Godparents must attend a Pre-Baptismal class
the Wednesday before at 7:30 pm.
Registrations are made during Office hours.
Only the mother or father may register a child.
Note: Godparents, if they are a couple living together
must be married by the Church. If Single, must be
Catholic, baptized, confirmed and have received First
Communion.

SEGUNDA COLECTA-PROXIMO DOMINGO
Para el Fondo de Jubilación para los
Sacerdotes Arquidiocesanos.
La próxima semana todas las parroquias de la
Arquidiócesis de Los Angeles participarán en
esta colecta para el fondo de Retiro de los Sacerdotes Arquidiocesanos. Regularmente el
fondo provee ayuda para más de 100 Sacerdotes retirados. Se espera que en los próximos
10 años aumente considerablemente la cantidad
de Sacerdotes que se retiren.
Este Fondo de Retiro nos ofrece una manera de
regresar a nuestros Sacerdotes algo de lo que
nos han dado y servido fielmente, nuestra contribución les ayudará a vivir modesta pero tranquilamente su retiro.
Démosles las gracias por los años de devoción
a Dios y el servicio de fe a nuestras comunidades parroquiales.

Registrations for 2015-2016will initiate
July 13 thru July 24, 2015
Monday - Thursday 10am to 3pm & 4pm – 7pm
Sunday July 19 from 8:00 am thru 3:00pm.
Friday 24 from 10:00 am - 5:00pm
Requirements for First Communion:
Baptismal Certificate, registration fee $65.00 per child
per year, includes text book.
Classes include preparation for the Sacrament and
ongoing religious education for elementary level.
Requirement for Catechumens (Children Non/Baptized)
Ages between 7 years through 13½ years old
Birth certificate and $65 enrollment fee per child, per year.
Requirements for Preschool and Kindergarten :
