A NEW ORDER
“O, Little Town of Bethlehem.” A Philadelphia clergyman
named Phillips Brooks penned these popular words back in the
mid-1800s, but the prophet Micah could have used them first.
Micah knew that from small packages great treasures come. In
today’s first reading, he knew that from tiny Bethlehem would
come the Lord.
The writer in Hebrews explains that Christ came to us to
do the will of God by establishing a new order and by
becoming our perfect sacrifice. And Luke tells us that
Elizabeth and John, the infant in her womb, understand that
great and wondrous things are at hand with the coming of the
Lord.
This is the Fourth Sunday of Advent. Soon we celebrate
anew the fruit of Mary’s womb. As we are told in Hebrews,
Jesus’ new order is being established even today. And as
Micah proclaims, his greatness is reaching even now to the
ends of the earth. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

The Nativity of the Lord (Christmas Day)
In today’s Christmas Mass at dawn we hear from the Gospel
reading that God has entered quietly into the world. Not into
the great city of Jerusalem, but into a small village about five
miles south. Not into a noble family, but to an outcast couple
keeping the newborn in a manger. Not announced by royal
edicts, but to common shepherds, the first human heralds of
Christ’s birth. As Christian stewards we simply allow Christ
to live in us no matter what our circumstances happen to be.
We allow Christ to share his love with us and reflect that love
out to others. We now are the heralds of Christ’s Incarnation.
What an unimaginable gift from a generous Lord. Good
stewards rejoice in this gift and give glory to God.

The Heifer International Fundraiser is continuing to accept
your generous (tax deductable) donations through the end
of December. You may still drop a check into the collection
basket, or stop by the St. Pat’s office during business hours.
When you stop by, please ask to see if there are still cards
available for when you give a donation in the name of a
loved one. You may write the check payable to Heifer

for Heifer Int’l). Thank you in advance for your generosity!
Together we can make a difference.
High School Youth Group is
having a fundraiser to help
send them to LA Youth Day.
LA Youth Day is a powerful, God filled day long
experience of worship and scripture. It's truly
incredible to gather with thousands of teens to
praise God. They need your help to get us there. The
teens will be selling candles outside after Mass this
weekend only, for $22 each. These candles smell
amazing and they come in a gift box, so they're
perfect for Christmas gifts and they're available to
take home today. Please come see me out front of
the church after Mass.
Thank you for supporting our youth group going to
LA Youth Day.
The High School Youth Group is also going on a
camping retreat to Jalama Beach. This trip is open to
all High School Teenagers and is on Jan 22-24.

profeta Miqueas hubiera podido hacerlo primero.

¡No
Mucha gente no
