The Vicar for Clergy Office has received reports that Erwin Mena (or
Erwin Castro or Edward Mena), claiming to be a priest, has exercised
ministry in various religious communities and dioceses including the
Archdiocese of Los Angeles. Mr. Mena is not a priest of the
Church and thus does not have permission to perform the
sacraments. In the interest of the faithful, concerning a
common error, the Church would generally assure that the
sacraments are valid, but if you have received sacraments
celebrated by Mr. Mena, please contact the pastor or priest at
your parish.
Anyone who has given any money to Mr. Mena should contact
your parish office.
