Welcome to the 2015-2016 school year! Throughout the summer we were busy preparing the
classrooms, getting our technology plan underway and anticipating the students’ arrival. This
school year our new district wide dress code policy will be in place. All students from k-8th grade
will be required to be in uniform. As a reminder, the first day of school will be on Wednesday,
August 26 and it will be all ALL DAY attendance day. We are enthusiastic to not only start this
school year but to continue in achieving our personal, academic and civic potential. We look
forward to an outstanding start!

Berwyn North District 98 is moving to a unified dress code for all
kindergarten-8th grade students beginning in the 2015-2016 school year.
Parents will be able to decide if they want a light, medium or dark blue
shirt with a collar. Students may wear navy blue: pants, shorts or skirts.
*Students will wear closed-toe shoes and if laced, they must be
appropriately laced and tied.

Digital Plan / Plan Digital
Berwyn North District 98 has embarked on a five year technology plan to bring one to one technology to our Middle
school students and increased technology to our elementary students. We are using a combination of Chromebooks,
PC's and iPads’ in the classroom to encourage student engagement, to enhance students’ abilities in writing, reading,
researching, math and all other content areas. For more information on our digital dream and how to use chromebooks,

Conversaciones Con La Comunidad
District 98 welcomes students, parents and the community to join us at our
Community Conversations. This is an opportunity for all to provide feedback,
share your insights and exchange ideas to better our schools. Superintendent,
Dr. Carmen Ayala, will lead this forum on the following dates and times
before the board meetings.

BNSD 98’s Shining Moments / Momentos Brillantes
We are extremely proud of District 98’s students and staff as they
continue to demonstrate and practiced their personal, academic
and civic potential all year round. We are especially proud of how
our Prairie Oak family has supported a former Special Education
teacher, Kris Ghranke with his fight against ALS. Students fundraised and held an Ice Bucket challenge while teachers, friends and
administrators ran the Strike Out ALS 5k on July 14th at U.S. Cellular
Field.

Congratulations to the 25 eight graders who in their
placement tests for Morton West placed in the Integrated
2 STEM course. Out of a total of 37 incoming students,
from various districts, which will be in this course, North
Berwyn School District 98 had 25 students place into the
Integrated 2 course. We are extremely proud of all your
hard work! Keep it up!
Our 2014-2015 Writing On The Wall winners. Each grade
selected a student’s essay on who they would bring to
Berwyn if they had the opportunity.
