Estimados Hermanos y Amigos de San Juan Bautista,
Dear People and Friends of San Juan Bautista,
¡Colombianos, Cubanos, Dominicanos, Ecuatorianos,
Salvadoreños, Mexicanos, Peruanos, Puertorriqueños!
¡Qué maravillosa expresión de unidad en la Diversidad
que se demostró la semana pasada en nuestro Festival
Hispano de San Juan Bautista! Esto es lo que realmente
significa ser Católico, que las personas de diversos
orígenes, experiencias, culturas e historias trabajen
unidos para promover el Reino de Dios. Estos ocho
grupos étnicos no son los únicos grupos en nuestra
parroquia; pero todos nos reunimos alrededor de ellos
para celebrar nuestra Fe Católica y para compartir nuestra
cultura Hispana. Nuestras familias de 15 diferentes
grupos étnicos que componen nuestra parroquia, ofrecen
sus tesoros y valores culturales que enriquecen la parroquia.
Aún siendo diferentes, formamos una parroquia, una
comunidad de fe en nuestro único Señor, Jesucristo. Al
igual que el niño con los 5 panes, cuando ofrecemos lo que
tenemos, el Señor multiplica sus bendiciones.

Diversity that was
demonstrated last week
in our annual San Juan
Bautista
Hispanic
Festival! This is what it
truly means to be
Catholic, that people of diverse backgrounds, experiences,
culture and history work side by side to promote God’s
Kingdom. These eight ethnic groups are not the only
groups in our parish, but we all rallied around them to
celebrate our Catholic Faith and to share our Hispanic
culture. Our families from the 15 different ethnic groups
that compose our parish offer their cultural treasures and
values to enrich the parish. Yet we form one parish, one
community of faith in our one Lord, Jesus Christ. Like the
little boy with the 5 loaves, when we offer what we have,
the Lord produces a multiplicity of blessings.
¡Gracias a todos los que trabajaron por el éxito del
Festival. ¡Gracias a todos y cada una de las personas que
vendieron boletos de la rifa, por un total de 39,330 dólares,
a los que trabajaron para preparar, cocinar y servir los
deliciosos alimentos Hispanos, a quienes instalaron los
kioscos y prepararon el lugar, a los que trabajaron
arduamente durante los cuatro largos días del festival, a los
adolescentes que trabajaron con gran energía, como
corredores, y para todos los que asistieron con sus
familiares, amigos y vecinos. Y ustedes, la comunidad de
San Juan Bautista, trabajó meticulosa y confiadamente; es a
través de estas labores que el Señor transfigurará nuestra
comunidad.

PROGRAMA DE ENRIQUECIMIENTO
Y REMEDIACION ACADEMICA
El objetivo del Programa
después de la escuela es ayudar a
cada niño a darse cuenta de su
potencial académico y personal a
través de una programación a largo
plazo
que
incluye
tutoría
académica, Ingles, Deportes, Artes y Manualidades,
tiempo de juego organizado y momentos de reflexión.
Por esa razón se desarrolló durante el mes de Junio y
Julio un Programa de Enriquecimiento y Remediación
Académica con la idea de ayudar a los estudiantes que
sienten que las Matemáticas y el Lenguaje son desafíos
difíciles. Se invitaron 31 estudiantes a participar de este
programa y ellos asistieron por 5 semanas de lunes a
viernes de las 3:00 a las 5:30 pm. a clases especiales.
Las inscripciones para el Programa Después de la
Escuela periodo 2015-16 comenzarán el 3 de agosto en
Plaza San Juan Bautista. Comuníquese con la Profesora

SAN JUAN BAUTISTA LEARNING CENTER / Come
Learn With Us
Our mission is to work closely with parents of children ages
2–5 years old, to provide the best possible education for their
young children. Our School is open year round, 6 AM to 5:30
PM., Mon—Fri. We accept CCIS and also offer financial
assistance. Our program offers breakfast, lunch and snack! For

San Juan Bautista after School Program aims to help
each child realize his or her academic and personal potential
through long-term programming in academic tutoring, English
literacy, Sports, Arts and Craft, organized play-time and
reflection moments. For that reason an academic remediation
and enrichment program was developed in June and July with
the idea of helping those students who see Math and Language
as a difficult challenge to be achieved. 31 students were invited
to be part of this program and they assisted for 5 weeks,
Mondays through Fridays from 3:00 to 5:30 pm. to special
classes.
Registration for the After-School Program 2015-16 period
will begin on August 3rd at Plaza San Juan Bautista. Contact

Baptismal Preparation – 2 Sessions required
Before an infant or a child under 7 years of age can be
baptized, the parents must attend the Parents’ Class for Baptism,
which is held the 2nd Saturday of each month @ 9:00AM. Then,
and only then, the parents with the godparents attend Baptism
Preparation Session II on the 4th Sat. of the month @ 9:00AM.
Parents must register at the parish office. August 8th is the next
date for Session II.
Oblates of St. Benedict – RETREAT
Have you ever wanted to go to a retreat but didn't want to
travel to a retreat site??? Here is your opportunity for a one-day,
reasonably priced retreat held right here in Lancaster County at
St. Joseph's on Cabbage Hill (St. Joseph Street). Join us
Saturday, September 12, 2015, for “Living in the Presence of
God: An Oblate’s Lifelong Work”. Our presenter is Br. Martin
Esparmer, OSB. The retreat is open to all.
The day will begin with Mass in the lower church at 8:15
AM., a simple lunch will be served and the retreat with
conclude at 3:30 pm. There will be an opportunity for
Reconciliation and one-on-one with Fr. Meinrad.

de Iniciación Cristiana para Adultos y es el proceso por
el cual las personas se convierten en Católicos y se
acercan mas al SEÑOR. La clase de RICA en inglés
comenzará el Lunes 24 de Agosto y la clase de RICA
en español comenzará el Lunes 14 de Septiembre. Para

Monday, August 24th and the Spanish class will begin on
