CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR SUPERSTARS WHO REACHED 25% OF THEIR AR READING GOALS!
K-2 had 97 students reached the goal with an 85% average or higher on quizzes, 3-5 had 167 students!
Attention Handbells Students: Extra Monday Practice starts Nov. 16th
To better prepare for the Holiday Program in December, there will be an additional weekly practice on
Mondays, 2:30-4 pm. Thursday practices will also be extended until 4 pm. Thank you for your participation!
Lots Happening on Wednesday, November 18th…
> Career Day at Garden Hills: 8:15 am - 11:30 am
Mr. Gaither is looking for a few more parents to share information about their career with 3rd, 4th and
5th grade students on Career Day! Volunteers will explain their career, how they came to be involved in
their career and what the requirements are (degrees, certifications, etc.). You will also share the skills
needed for your career and what subject areas in school are used the most (math, reading, art, science,
etc.). You can bring tools, props, work samples to help explain what you do. If you can be a part of Career
Day, please contact Mr. Gaither at [email protected].
Students are welcome to wear college/university hats and other spirit wear to promote their favorite
school on Career Day to connect college and careers!
> November NAPPS Meeting: 12-1 pm
North Atlanta Parents for Public Schools (NAPPS) will hold their monthly meeting at Sutton Middle School
main campus, 2975 Northside Drive. The topic is sports in the North Atlanta cluster featuring the new Athletic Director and football coach at NAHS, Booster club representatives and more. All parents are invited to

> Spirit Night at Buckhead Pizza Co.! 2:30 pm to Close!
Our next Spirit Night will be next Wednesday at Buckhead Pizza Co (near the Piedmont / Peachtree Rd
Crossing)! Go out and to enjoy dinner with your GHES friends with 15% of the profits going back to GHES.
We will be raffling off some gift cards and don't forget to pick up your very own Buckhead Pizza Co. discount card they are giving especially to Garden Hills students and teachers! Please park in the parking deck
above the restaurant and don't forget to bring your ask for your to be validated so you don't have to pay.
Join your child for lunch on Family Day: Thursday, November 19th
Parents are invited to dine with us to celebrate the spirit of Thanksgiving! Adult lunches are
$4.00. Please get your child’s lunch time from your child’s teacher and meet us in the cafeteria!
NEW: Gather the Family to Solve….GHES’ MATH PROBLEM OF THE MONTH!
Each month for the remainder of the school year, we will be offering an opportunity for parents and students to work on a selected activity to promote problem solving skills: the Problem of the Month (POM).
These are problems to be worked on at home during the entire month. The problem of the month includes
levels of difficulty for students of all ages. The November POM, “Game Show” allows students to consider
concepts of probability, counting strategies and expected values. Families are encouraged to work on problems at different levels to determine a "good fit" for their child. Discussion groups will be held on the last
day of the month for all students who choose to participate!! November 30th will be our first discussion
group, held during lunch periods. For the November POM, go to our website home page under GH NEWS

Eureka Math Support for Parents is available Online
Eureka Math is complicated and confusing for many parents, but the Eureka website offers an excellent
resource for Parent Support! There is a Homework Helper for every homework assignment for parents to

Thank you Teachers for Tuesday’s Math Night!
Families rolled in to try their luck with the dice at Family Math Night- It was a colorful, fun event for the
children, with challenging and engaging take home games for all grade levels! Thanks go out to Ms. Carlson, Ms. Britni Brooks, Ms. Settles and their team for putting it all together!
Kiddos Offering Camp over Thanksgiving & Winter Break
Kiddos is offering ToGo Camp for 11 days over Winter and Thanksgiving Break at the Garden Hills Rec Center at 335 Pine Tree Drive for Kiddos grades K-6th grade! Each morning they will set out on a different field
trip and end the day back at the Rec Center for Activity choices. Camp Day is 8:30 am-2:30 pm with extended hours 7:45am-6pm. We offer Flexible Enrollment options and turn the form in by Wednesday,

El señor Gaither está buscando más padres para compartir información acerca de su carrera a los estudiantes en los grados tercero, 4to y 5to, en el día de las profesiones! Los voluntarios explicarán su carrera, cómo llegaron a participar en su carrera y cuáles son los requisitos (grados, certificaciones, etc.). Usted
también puede compartir las habilidades necesarias para su carrera y las áreas en la escuela que se utilizan
al máximo (matemáticas, lectura, arte, ciencia, etc.). Usted puede traer herramientas, accesorios, muestras
de trabajo para ayudar a explicar lo que hace. Si usted puede ser parte del Día de Carreras universitarias,
por favor póngase en contacto con el señor Gaither en [email protected].
Los estudiantes pueden usar prendas universitarias / sombreros universitarios y otras como identidad
para promover su universidad preferida durante el día de las carreras universitarias

Los padres de las escuelas publicas de North Atlanta (NAPPS) realizaran su reunión es Sutton Middle School, 2975 Northside Drive. El tema es el deporte en el cluster North Atlanta que ofrecen el nuevo director

NUEVO: reunir a la familia para resolver ... .EL PROBLEBLA MATEMATICO DEL MES!
DE GHES! Cada mes durante el resto del año escolar, se ofrecerá una oportunidad para que los padres y
estudiantes trabajen en una actividad seleccionada para promover habilidades para resolver problemas: el
problema del Mes (POM). Estos son los problemas que se trabajaron en casa durante todo el mes. El problema del mes incluye niveles de dificultad para los estudiantes de todas las edades. El POM de noviembre
"Game Show" permite a los estudiantes tener en cuenta los conceptos de probabilidad, contando las estrategias y los valores esperados. Se anima a las familias a trabajar en los problemas en los diferentes niveles
para determinar un "buen ajuste" para su hijo. Los grupos de discusión se llevará a cabo en el último día del
mes para todos los estudiantes que opten por participar !! 30 de noviembre será nuestro primer grupo de
