ARCHBISHOP’S CATHOLIC APPEAL 2016
This weekend is Commitment Weekend for the 2016
Archbishop’s Catholic Appeal.
Our parish goal is $38,132.46. If you have not
already done so please complete your pledge card,
indicating your gift or pledge to our Catholic Church
in Western Oregon. It is important for all of us to
participate in order to support our universal church
here in western Oregon.
St. Vincent de Paul will be distributing
food boxes on the 4th Sunday each month after the
12:30pm Mass. Please enter via the church Hall or
you can enter via the doors on SE 76th Avenue. You
will NOT need to show any ID and you do not need
to sign up ahead of time. All parishioners are
welcome.

Youth Confirmation
35 youth attended the Youth Confirmation
Retreat with St. Joseph the Worker and Net
Ministries the weekend of January 15-17.
Overall, I think it was a good experience judging
by their surveys. Thank you for all your prayers
and a big thank you to all the adults who helped
with meals and desserts!
The candidates gathered last Sunday and learned
about how to navigate the Catholic Bible. They
learned about the importance of Scripture in their
lives and how reading and reflecting on the Word
of God is a powerful part of being Catholic. They
also listened to the faith journey of Ely Guerrero
Rios, parishioner and receptionist at Ascension.
Her words made a great impact on the youth and
emphasized the importance of God always being
there, even during the hard times.

Spring is around the corner and so is
the Knights of Columbus plant sale.
Order forms will be ready the weekend of February
13th and 14th, all orders must be pre-paid and
delivery of the plants will take place on May 7th and

mejor oportunidad para dar forma a un bebe más sano, y darle un futuro
más próspero a un niño. ¡A todos los niños!

misericordia - día 322 La adopción tiene la dimensión de
conexión – no solo hacia tu propia tribu, pero más haya,
extendiendo el alcance a lo que constituye el amor, lazos y
familia. Es un abarcamiento más amplio. Al adoptar, extendemos
más haya de nuestra familia cercana y, al extendernos,
encontramos un sentido de pertenecer con los demás.
CATECISMO PARA NIÑOS Y NIÑAS
Ya regresamos a las clases de catecismo, también
acabamos de tener las Reconciliaciones con los niños.
Hubo unos niños que no asistieron. Por favor se les pide
que se comuniquen con María Solís, porque si no pudieron
asistir ellos a la Reconciliación urge hablar con sus papas.
Recordatorio: se viene el mal tiempo si está nevando o ahí hielo
las clases se cancelaran de acuerdo al tiempo de las escuelas
públicas de Portland. Por favor les pedimos vean en la
televisión, si hay clases en las escuelas nosotros seguimos, el
horario de las escuelas públicas. Gracias por su cooperación.

CUARESMA EMPEZARA MUY PRONTO
VATICANO, 26 Ene. 16 / 06:05 am (ACI).- Hoy se
dio a conocer el mensaje del Papa Francisco para la
Cuaresma 2016 que lleva como título “Misericordia
quiero y no sacrificio (Mt 9,13). Las obras de
misericordia en el camino jubilar”.
Que la comunidad comprenda que la Cuaresma no es
el único tiempo para acercarnos a Dios y que el centro
de este tiempo es el amor.
Pensar que la conversión es solo para la Cuaresma. La
Cuaresma es un tiempo especial (pero no el único) en
el que debemos hacer esfuerzo por cambiar las
actitudes que nos alejan del amor de Dios y de
nuestros hermanos, pero esto no es para vivirse 40
días al año (durante la Cuaresma), sino cada día de
nuestra vida. La conversión podemos traducirla como
cambio, modificación, reconstrucción. Jesús nos
llama continuamente a vivir la reconciliación y el
perdón.
Pregunta:
¿Por qué las personas se acercan más a Dios en este
tiempo?
R/ Este es un tiempo especial de gracia de Dios, y el
misterio que celebramos nos invita a reconocer el amor de
Cristo. No debería ser el único pero es una magnífica
oportunidad.
Reflexionemos en los “peligros” que podemos vivir en la
Cuaresma.
Cena Anual de Cangrejo¡GRACIAS!

Colecta Católica del Arzobispo del 2016
“Enseñar, Bendecir, Servir”
Los fondos recolectados son utilizados para ayudar a
financiar las agencias y oficina Arquidiócesanas que
apoyan a las parroquias y a sus feligreses. Además, parte
de los fondos son utilizados para ayudar a los sacerdotes
Arquidiócesanos jubilados y a la educación Seminarista.
El tema de la Colecta Católica del Arzobispo del 2016 es
“Enseñar, Bendecir, Servir”. Mientras usted considera la
cantidad con la cual podría usted comprometerse para
ayudar a los ministerios, por favor reflexione sobre lo
siguiente:
Contribuir a la Colecta Católica del Arzobispo es una
manera concreta de "Enseñar, Bendecir, Servir". Tome un
momento para examinar honestamente todas las
bendiciones que Dios le ha dado en su vida y, luego
pregúntele a Dios: “¿Qué es justo?” Por nuestro bautismo
y nuestra confirmación en la iglesia Católica, cada uno de
nosotros está llamado a servir como un buen pastor.
Estamos llamados no sólo a seguir a Cristo, sino también
ser Cristo.
Por favor, pida por la guía del Señor mientras usted toma
en consideración las reflexiones anteriores, y, por favor,
contribuya generosamente de acuerdo a las bendiciones

PETICIONES Para todas las personas que tengan una
necesidad de pedir por un ser querido fallecido,
cumpleaños, aniversario o alguna otra necesidad para
ponerlo por en alguna misa del fin de semana por favor se
les pide llamar de lunes a jueves durante las horas de
oficina, el jueves antes de las 12 del mediodía. Si llaman
el viernes o el sábado las oficinas están cerradas y no se
podrá poner para ese fin de semana.
CAJAS DE COMIDA GRATIS
San Vicente de Paul estará distribuyendo cajas de
comida el cuarto domingo de cada mes después de
la misa de las 12:30pm.
Se les pide que entren por el salón Tony Rinella o por
la entrada que se encuentra sobre la avenida 76.
NO se necesita mostrar ninguna identificación y
tampoco necesitas apuntarte con anticipación. Todos
los miembros de nuestra comunidad son bienvenidos.

BAUTIZOS
Los próximos bautizos serán el 9 de abril, 2016 si hay
personas interesadas en bautizar a sus niños y niñas por
favor de venir a registrarlos durante las horas de oficina de
lunes a jueves de 9am a 3pm. Recuerde que los viernes
está cerrado.
Los niños tienen que tener de edad: de recién nacidos hasta 6
años, después de 7 años para arriba tienen que tomar clases de
RICA. Los padrinos tienen que estar casados por la iglesia si son
pareja. Las pláticas serán el miércoles 6 de abril, 2016 a las
7:00pm. Estas clases es un requisito para padres y padrinos,
tienen que tomar las clases, si no pueden tomarlas aquí en la
parroquia pueden tomarlas en otra iglesia solamente tienen que
presentar el comprobante de que ya las tomo.
CABALLEROS DE COLON
Venta de Plantas
La primavera está a la vuelta de la esquina y
también lo está la venta de plantas de los
Caballeros de Colon.
Podrás hacer tu pedido el fin de semana del 13 y 14 de
febrero. Todas las órdenes deberán de pagarse al
ordenar y recogerlas el 7 y 8 de mayo.
