SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 8, 2015 PRAY ON VETERANS’ DAY Wednesday is Veterans’ Day. Please pray for all past and present military men and women who have served our great nation. If you are a veteran, please accept our parish’s sincere thanks for your service to our Country and the World. Please consider offering the following prayer every day for our brothers and sisters who put themselves in harm’s way to protect us and our way of life. Prayer for All Military Personnel O God, kindly watch over those exposed to the dangers of military life. Give them such strong faith that nothing may ever lead them to deny it or fear to practice it. Fortify them by your grace against the contagion of bad example, so that, preserved from vice and serving you faithfully, they may be ready to meet death if it should come. Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, inspire them with sorrow for sin and grant them pardon. Mary, our Mother, be with them in battle, and should they be called upon to make the supreme sacrifice, obtain for them the grace to die in the love of your Divine Son. Saint Joseph, pray for them. Amen. From Prayers for Today by Terence Cardinal Cooke, the Deceased Archbishop of New York WE PRAY FOR ALL OUR DECEASED FAMILY, FRIENDS AND FELLOW PARISHIONERS EVERY DAY IN NOVEMBER God Bless, Fr. Herb We will have only one Mass on Veteran’s Day at 9:00 AM in the Daily Chapel. 1:00 PM Veterans’ Day Ceremony at our school. You are invited. TITHING September October 25-31, 2015 Same Week Last Year: $16,449.00 $17,389.00 From the Pastor: November 11th, we honor our military who give the first fruits of their lives to Our Lord, putting their very lives at the service of our country and all of us. Their generosity is complete. As we give our gifts to God each week, we look at what they do and we are humbled and inspired to greater generosity because of their sacrifices. Words of Tithing from the Pews: Most of the things I have, I have never asked for and God still gave them to me. I don’t think He should have to ask me to share the blessings I would never have received without His help. Thank you for your sacrifice of Tithing MASS ATTENDANCE Mass attendance for October 31-November 1: 1790 WELCOME TO SAINT PETER THE APOSTLE PARISH Please help us welcome Rafal and Renata Wlazlo and their family to Saint Peter the Apostle Church. LET’S GO NEXT SPRING TO SPAIN, FRANCE & ITALY APRIL 11-21, 2016 Our parish is sponsoring a European trip to the exciting city of Barcelona, Spain and then on to Lourdes, where Mary visited with Saint Bernadette. We travel to Nice and visit Monte Carlo from there. Leaving France, we go to Northern Italy to Stresa on Lake Maggior the Italian/Swiss Lake district. There is no cost and no need to sign up – just come and bring a friend. For more information, please call Deacon Bob at 973-887-5057. 3 ATTENTION FLOWERS LOVERS CAN YOU PLEASE HELP? Our Church is always beautifully decorated with plants and flowers. Keeping the plants and flowers looking fresh is quite a chore. We need two volunteers with “green thumbs” to water the plants twice a week. You can alternate weeks if that would be better. Preparing the Church for our special Holy Days and Holidays, we need another team of volunteers to help out. This ministry is very rewarding because a tastefully decorated Church invites us all to a deeper sense of reverence and prayer. We want our Church to be a beautiful sign of our love for Jesus who is present with us as we celebrate the Liturgy. Please pray and think about offering your time to this very special ministry. If you think you can help, please call Sister Sylvia at 973334-2090 to learn more about this. Thank you and God bless you! OUR DECEMBER CAR RAFFLE PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN Our parish is raffling a beautiful 2015 Dodge Charger on Sunday, December 13th after the 7:00 PM Mass. You see it outside on the Church Plaza. There are only 1000 chances for sale at $100 each. Tickets are available at all our weekend Masses until December 13. Tickets are also on sale at the Rectory and at the CCD office during the week from 9AM to 4PM. We offer a strong “thank you” to you who have already bought a raffle ticket. You are helping our parish in a really big way right now. This year (all since after July 1) we have needed to make major unanticipated repairs in our Parish Center/School building (a partial new roof and new heating system units) that have put a big hole in our parish budget for this year. That’s the reason for our raffle. Every dollar of the proceeds from our Car Raffle will be important income to help the parish pay for these major repairs without jeopardizing our financial responsibilities to the religious education of our children and young people in All Saints Academy and our parish CCD Youth Ministry program as well as our financial obligation to our parish employees and all the ministries which they serve. Your generous participation will help enable our parish to fulfill all these responsibilities without going into debt. Please help us if you can. And, by the way, we hope you win the car! It will be a great early Christmas present for someone and that may be you. THANKSGIVING FOOD PANTRY COLLECTION NEXT WEEKEND – NOVEMBER 14/15 …It is in giving that we receive. If we look back over the past year, our blessings have been many and we are most grateful to a generous God from whom all these blessings flow. Rev. OF THE SACRAMENT OF THE ANOINTING OF THE SICK SAINT PETER THE APOSTLE CHURCH November 14, 2015 11:00 A.M.
