Sts. Peter and Paul Solemnity - June 29
June 29 is the Solemnity
of Ss. Peter and Paul,
Apostles. These two great
saints featured artistically
in our high altar are the
two great witnesses who
held the early Church together and propelled it
into the world. Please ask
our parish patron and
source of ecclesial unity,
St. Peter, and the great
evangelist, St. Paul, to intercede for our parish that
we might become intentional disciples of Jesus as they were. A plenary indulgence
is granted the Christian faithful who devoutly make a visit to
a parish church on its titular feast day. This visit is to include the prayer of the Our Father and the Apostles’ Creed.
Please pray especially for our Holy Father and Bishops on
this day.
Fortnight for Freedom
The Bishops of the United States have called all the faithful
to celebrate the Fortnight for Freedom: Freedom to Serve
from June 21 to July 4, 2015. During these two weeks our
liturgical calendar celebrates a series of great martyrs who
remained faithful in the face of persecution by political
power: St. John the Baptist (June 24), SS. Peter and Paul
(June 29), and the First Martyrs of the Church of Rome
(June 30) and St. Thomas the Apostle (July 3). The theme of
this year’s Fortnight will focus on the freedom to serve the
poor and vulnerable in accord with human dignity and the

Altar Boy Summer Outing
In gratitude for their service, all veteran altar boys who are
still currently serving may attend our annual summer outing
on Tuesday, June 30. This year we are going to Halleck Park
in Papillion for sports/games, lunch and snacks, and then
swimming at the Papio Bay Aquatic Center. Halleck
Park is located a quarter mile to the east of the intersection
of Washington and Lincoln Streets in downtown Papillion
off 84th Street. Parents should drop off their boys at the
Halleck Park lake at 10 a.m. Parents should pick up their
boys at 5:30 p.m. from the Papio Bay Aquatic Center (815
East Halleck St., Papillion). Each family is asked to send
along with their boy a snack or treat that can be shared with
the rest of the altar servers. Additionally, if any father is interested in helping with this event, please contact Paul Hula
402-679-3938. All altar boys attending must RSVP by returning a permission & liability form completed by their
parents no later than Monday, June 29th. The permission
form is available at the parish office, website and sacristy.
Original Musical About Fr. Flanagan at Boys Town
"Flanagan’s Boys: The Story of Boys Town," presented by
S.T.A.G.E. student theater of Lincoln, will be performed at

St. Peter’s Garage Sale
The Altar Society and Boy Scouts Troop 319 will host our
annual St. Peter Garage Sale on August 27-29, and can use
your donations. We will be taking clean, gently used clothing, household goods, and miscellaneous items but NO
rugs, stuffed furniture, mattresses, encyclopedias or magazines. We will only be accepting clothing during the first 2
drop-off dates as we have too much given to us and we
were unable to sort it and display it properly. The drop-off
dates and times are:
July 1st 6-730pm; July 18th, 10am-12pm,
July 30th 6-730pm, and August 15th 10am-12pm.
Catechism & Homeschool Sacraments Registration
Catechism classes at St. Peter Church have officially ended
for the summer vacation. Please register your children for
our 2015-2016 catechism classes or our homeschool program in the O’Brien Hall after any of the Masses in English

Camp Virtus et Veritas - Omaha Altar Boys’ Camp
All of the St. Peter altar boys eligible are encouraged to sign
up for the first ever Archdiocese of Omaha Catholic summer camp for boys called Virtus et Veritas from July 26thAugust 1st, 2015. Camp Virtus et Veritas is for boys entering
6th -9th grades with leadership roles available for boys entering 10th -12th grades in the fall. This weeklong camp will be
held at Camp Kateri Tekakwitha in McCool Junction, Nebr.

dos gran santos con presencia artística en nuestro altar alto son dos
grandes testigos las cuales mantuvieron unida la
Iglesia temprana y la impulso hacia el mundo.

Salida de Verano para Monaguillos
En agradecimiento a su servicio, todo monaguillo veterano
actualmente sirviendo como monaguillos puede asistir a
nuestra salida anual de verano el martes, 30 de junio. Este
año iremos a Halleck Park en Papillion con deportes/juegos,
almuerzo y botanas, y después estaremos nadando en el
Centro Acuático de Papio Bay. Halleck Park se encuentra a
solo un ¼ de milla al este de la intersección de las calles Washington y Lincoln y la 84 en el centro viejo de Papillion.
Padres deben de pasar a dejar a sus hijos en el lago de Halleck Park a las 10 a.m. Padres necesitan pasar a recoger a
sus hijos a las 5:30 p.m. en el Centro Acuático de Papio Bay

Campamento para Monaguillos de Omaha
Animamos a todos los monaguillos de San Pedro elegibles
para anotarse para el primer campamento católico de verano de la Archidiócesis de Omaha para niños Virtus et Veritas del 26 de julio al 1 de agosto este verano. El Campamento Virtus et Veritas es para niños entrando al sexto grado al

paper napkins and canned fruit.
Donations may be left in brown St.

Sacramental Preparation and Devotions
Baptism and Godparent Requirements
Parents of children who are six years of age or
younger and in need of Baptism must be registered, active parishioners of St. Peter for at least
two months. Godparents take on serious obligations when they sponsor a person for Baptism
and they should be virtuous and faithful Catholics. Godparents must be 16 years old or more,
fully initiated, practicing Catholics; if married,
godparents must be married in the Catholic
Church. Baptisms may be scheduled only after
the parents and godparents have completed the
requisite classes and the parish office receives a
letter from the parish at which the godparents
belong stating that the godparents are in good
standing with the Catholic Church and are eligible to be sponsors. Parents and sponsors must
attend a Baptismal class before the Baptism.
Classes in English usually are offered on the
fourth Sundays of March, June, September and
December from 3:00-5:00 p.m. Pre-registration
is required. Baptisms in English are usually offered on the second Sunday of the month at
2:30 p.m. and on the fourth Saturday of the
month at 9:00 a.m. For more information, please

Catechism Sacramental Preparation
for Children
The catechism school year goes from September
through May of each year. Registrations began in
May for the next school year. Classes are held on
Saturdays from 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon, or
Wednesdays from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. If the
child is Baptized, a Baptism certificate must be
given to the parish office. Children should be
registered and attend classes for at least two
years before receiving sacraments. For more

Home School Sacramental Preparation
Families who are preparing their children at
home to receive a sacrament this year should
register at the catechism office by September 6,
2014. If your child will be receiving a sacrament
this school year or the following year, please
register during Catechism and Homeschool registration times posted in the bulletin. A Baptism
certificate must be submitted. Please see the
parish website for requirements and important
dates for First Reconciliation, First Communion
or Confirmation: www.stpeterchurch.net/infosacraments.html.
Adult Catechesis, RCIA
Those over the age of seven who desire to become Catholic and/or receive the sacraments of
Baptism, Confirmation or Communion should
contact Fr. Ofalsa for classes in English, or
Sister Clara for classes in Spanish. Classes on
Catholic doctrine in English are offered weekly
from September through May on Tuesdays from
7:15 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. Classes in Spanish are
offered on Mondays at 7:15 p.m. or at 10:30 a.m.
All are welcome to attend.
Marriage
Parishioners who are registered for a minimum
of three months are eligible to begin marriage
preparation at St. Peter. In addition, the Archdiocese requires a minimum of six months of
preparation prior to your wedding date. To
begin marriage preparation in English or Spanish, please contact the parish office.
Hall Rentals
Parishioners registered in St. Peter Parish for at
least three months may rent the parish halls for
receptions and events. For more information
please contact Mary Ramm in the parish office.

Preparación Sacramental y Devociones
Requisitos para Bautismo y Padrinos
El Cursillo Pre-Bautismal para Padres y Padrinos es requerido para Bautismos. El cursillo es
valido por tres años. Padres de niños que serán
Bautizados deberán de registrarse, feligreses
registrados y activos de la Parroquia de San
Pedro por lo menos de dos meses. Los padrinos deberán de ser iniciados completamente,
practicando el Catolicismo, asisten en Misa por
lo menos de los domingos y días de guardar, y
si están casados, deberán ser casados por la
Iglesia Católica, y tienen 16 años o más. Los
padrinos toman sobre sí unas obligaciones muy
serias cuando apadrinan una persona para el
bautismo y deben ser virtuosos y fieles católicos. Les queremos animar a seleccionar muy
cuidadosamente los padrinos. Podrán fijar y
pedir el día para los bautismos solamente después de que los papás y los padrinos hayan
completado tres clases de requisito y después
de que la oficina de la parroquia haya recibido
de los padrinos una carta de la parroquia a donde pertenecen los padrinos, en la cual constatan
que ellos están en el buen favor de la Iglesia
Católica y que son aprobados para ser padrinos.
Para padrinos casados, por favor llevar copia de
la acta de Matrimonio por la Iglesia Católica. El
cursillo Bautismal se ofrecen cada dos meses en
tres domingos. Bautismos en español son ofrecidos usualmente el primer, segundo y tercer
sábado del mes a las 9:00 a.m. y el cuarto domingo del mes a las 2:30 p.m. Para más información favor comuníquese con Mary en la

Primera Comunión y Confirmación

Matrimonio/Bodas

Quinceañeras
Para poder celebrar la fiesta de sus quince años
en la Iglesia de San Pedro, se deben considerar
los siguientes requisitos:

La quinceañera y su familia deben estar
registrados como feligrés de la Iglesia de
San Pedro por lo menos dos meses.
• La quinceañera debe haber recibido los
sacramentos de iniciación (Bautismo, Confirmación, Eucaristía) o inscribirse en clases de catecismo para prepararse a celebrar
los sacramentos, y debe participar activamente en la parroquia, particularmente en
la Misa y el pastoral juvenil.
• La quinceañera debe presentar copias de
los certificados de Confirmación y Primera
Comunión antes de la celebración de sus
quince años.
• La quinceañera debe haber asistido por lo
menos a ocho pláticas de preparación en la
Iglesia de San Pedro (Usualmente las clases
están los lunes y martes de las 5 p.m. hasta
las 7 p.m. en los meses de febrero, mayo,
agosto y noviembre).
Después de haber cumplido con todos estos
requisitos, debe llamar a la secretaria parroquial, Mary Ramm, al 402-341-4560, ext. 100,
