Lauren Lacy and Emily Highfill carried the team in the 3 legged race, while the whole group worked together to win the tug of war. Thank you to all who donated diapers for the pamper pyramid. With the support of the parish the youth were able to construct the highest tower that remained standing while making a sizable donation to the most worthy cause. A special thanks to Trish Kuper and Amy Highfill for accompanying the youth and making the day possible. 4 Welcome to St. Monica Catholic Church October 12, 2014 FROM THE PASTOR We had nice turnouts both at the parish and at PetSmart this past Saturday for the blessing of pets. We’ll hope to continue the blessing at PetSmart, especially as an opportunity to help non-Catholics find a connection with Jesus in his Catholic Church. I can see this being an easy but important evangelization opportunity in years to come. I ask for your prayers as I leave Sunday, October 12, for an 8-day silent retreat. A priest is required to make an annual retreat since guarding and nourishing his own spiritual life is one of his most sacred duties. This retreat is part of a training program in spiritual formation that the Archbishop asked me and four other priests to participate in. The program is a three -year program. It meets three times each year at the seminary just outside of Chicago. Two of the meetings each year are classroom type meetings and one is the annual retreat. I count on your prayers for the grace of a good retreat! We have our fall parish workday on Saturday, October 25, in the morning. Please see information in the bulletin, or call the Parish Office, and plan to meet here that morning to assist with various outdoor and indoor projects to clean and maintain our parish campus. We can use lots of help. Breakfast is provided. This is a great stewardship opportunity and it is a way your entire family can come together to help. Sincerely in Christ, Rev. Stephen Hamilton Pet Blessings Pet Blessings were held at St. Monica recently and Fr. Hamilton traveled to Pet Smart in Edmond to bless pets there, in honor of St. Francis of Assisi. A monk from St. Gregory Abbey will be at all the Masses on October 18 & 19 to speak about St. Gregory University and to offer the opportunity to support their scholarship fund.
