If you are not receiving mail from the parish, chances are you are not registered. You are free to stop by the Parish Office to become a registered member of All Saints. Parish registration is required to be a Baptismal Godparent or Confirmation Sponsor. You may also visit our website at www.allsaintsvachurch.org. To whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. These words of St. Peter are words that each person is asked to embrace in his/her life. In today’s Gospel from John 6:60-69, many of Jesus’ disciples leave him because they find his teaching on eating his Body and Blood as the Bread of Life in the Eucharist too much to handle. It requires faith in order to consent to this belief. Faith is believing in the the revealed word of another - in this case, Jesus. Faith must grow or faith will weaken. Ask Jesus to help you believe in the beautiful gift of the Eucharist. We cannot understand all of the aspects of the gift and sacrifice of Jesus in the Eucharist, but we can make that act of faith. I also encourage you to sign up for an hour of Adoration in our Chapel at various days during the week. In prayer before the Blessed Sacrament, we are changed as we allow the Eucharistic Lord’s presence to touch us. We have an urgent need for substitutes and permanent adorers. At the same time, did you ever consider that you may have an urgent need to take time to pray before our Eucharistic Lord? Join with 3 or 4 other people to cover a specific hour (once a week) over a period of a month. You can encourage each other to pray in this way. Next Sunday we plan to have a sign-up table in the church narthex (vestibule) after Masses so that you may make a commitment to prayer before the Blessed Sacrament. In Our Parish The Legion of Mary, Mother of the Word Incarnate Presidium, meets in the PAC, St. Joseph Room, on Tuesdays at 7:30pm. There is no meeting on Thursday, August 27th. For more information, please email Mary Alice at [email protected] . Question of the Week: This week, what concr ete action on my part will show unequivocally that I have decided to stay with Christ in Eucharistic discipleship? Father Lee Roos The Importance of Sunday Mass As the body will die without food, the soul will expire without nourishment. As Catholics, that spiritual nourishment comes at the Sunday Eucharist.
