GOD’S WORK

We are so busy! Most of us have more than one job
to do, and we never seem to have enough time. We are
workers, volunteers, parents, friends, and most of us are
more than one thing at a time. But which of these is the
work of God?
We seldom view our ordinary work as being the
work of God. We may think that we have to be ministers or priests, missionaries or charity workers, engaged
full-time in works formally identified as being “God’s
work.” But everything we do with a faithful heart and
with love for others is God’s work. We each have our
own role to fill in the world, and many gifts are necessary. We cannot always see the direct connection of our
daily work to the plan of God. But we trust and we believe that God leads us to do what is needed, where it is
needed. What is “God’s work?” “This is the work of
God, that you believe in the one he sent” (John 6:29).

EL TRABAJO QUE DIOS QUIERE
¡Estamos tan ocupados! Muchos de nosotros tenemos más de un trabajo y parecería que nunca tenemos
suficiente tiempo. Somos trabajadores, voluntarios, padres, amigos y la mayoría es más de una cosa a la vez.
Pero, ¿cuál de estos es el trabajo que Dios quiere?
Rara vez vemos nuestro trabajo común como el trabajo que Dios quiere. Quizás pensamos que debemos
ser ministros o sacerdotes, misioneros o benefactores,
que debemos realizar trabajos de tiempo completo que
se consideran como “las obras de Dios”. Pero todo lo
que hacemos con un corazón fiel y con amor por el
prójimo es una obra de Dios. Cada uno tiene un papel
que cumplir en el mundo y muchos dones son necesarios. No siempre podemos ver la relación directa que
existe entre nuestro trabajo diario y los designios de
Dios. Pero confiamos y tenemos fe en que Dios nos
guía a hacer lo que es necesario, cuando es necesario.
¿Cuál es “la obra de Dios?” “La obra de Dios consiste
en que crean en aquél a quien él ha enviado” (Juan
6:29).

First Reading — After resting and taking nourishment
twice, Elijah is strengthened to walk to the mountain of
God, Horeb (1 Kings 19:4-8).
Psalm — Taste and see the goodness of the Lord
(Psalm 34).
Second Reading — Be sealed by the Holy Spirit of God
so as to be imitators of God and live in love (Ephesians
4:30 — 5:2).
Gospel — Jesus professes that he is the living bread and
whoever eats this bread will live forever (John 6:41-51).

Reflexionemos sobre la Palabra de Dios
Reflecting on God’s Word
Los ángeles, por el contrario de los mortales,
no mueren. Ni necesitan comer y beber. Al no
tener cuerpos corruptibles viven eternamente
con Dios. Pero el salmo de hoy describe el
maná que los israelitas comieron en el
desierto como “pan de ángeles” (78:25).
Parece que para ellos, tal como nos dice la
primera lectura, el maná venía del cielo cada
mañana. Por medio del maná Dios les dio la
vida cuando la muerte parecía inminente. Por
medio del maná su fe en la protección eterna
de Dios se avivó.
En el caso de los israelitas, recibieron la vida
por comer el pan del cielo, y la vida que
recibieron les permitió creer. En el caso de
los discípulos de Jesús sucedió al revés.
Nosotros debemos creer en Jesús como “el
verdadero pan del cielo” (Juan 6:32) para
poder recibir la vida eterna que Jesús nos
ofrece.
Unlike mortals, angels do not die. Nor do
they need to eat or drink. Without corruptible
bodies, they live eternally with God. But the
psalm for today describes the manna that the
Israelites ate in the desert as “the bread of
angels” (78:25). As the first reading tells us,
it seemed to them that it came down from
heaven every night. Through the manna, God
gave them life when death seemed imminent.
Through the manna, their faith in God’s
eternal care for them was revived.
In the case of the Israelites, they received life
by eating the bread from heaven. And the life
they were given allowed them to believe. In
the case of the disciples of Jesus it’s the other
way around. We must believe in Jesus as “the
true bread from heaven” (John 6:32) in order
to receive the eternal life that he provides.

This painting also includes all exterior doors,
trim, and columns and walls. This painting
will bring back the vibrancy of our church
back to its original form.

It is requested that everyone refrain
(stop) from pasting, taping, gluing, or in any
manner, attach “notices”, “signs”, “directions”,
or any “ information” to any of the
aforementioned doors, trim, columns, or walls.
As you may have noticed – this posting of
notices has peeled a lot of the paint from the
aforementioned.
In the near future all interior walls, trim, and
doors will also be painted. It is requested that
once this is done - all notices not be placed on
these surfaces.
Notices can be placed on our bulletin boards
with approval from the Parish Staff or Father
Tomy.
We also anticipate placing a bulletin board on
the outside wall close to the Office for the
placement of any notices from Parish
Organizations, Groups, and ministries. Until
this has been done – Please do not attach, or
place, any notices on the walls, doors, or trim
of our buildings.
Building Committee
Registration for children/youth in
grades 1st thru 12th will be held Sundays,
August 2, August 9, August 16, and August 23,
2015 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Children will be making their
First Communion
when they are in the 2nd grade.
Youth in grades 10 thru 12 who will be making
their Confirmation will be attending classes
on Wednesdays from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Parents must bring copy of Baptism Certificate
when registering their child. Registration Fee
is $40.00 for the first child and $5.00 for each
additional child. This only applies to brothers
and sisters ONLY.
Registration for RCIA for youth out of high
school and adults who need their sacraments
may also register on Sundays in August and
will be attending classes on Thursdays from
7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Baptism certificate is also
required on day of registration and fee will be
$40.00 per person.
