Thank you for the emails and messages I received with your prayers and devotion at this time and for all the support both verbal and spiritual. Thank you for the wonderful letters equally full of assuring prayer. Thank you teachers and children of our school for the prayers and the beautiful cards. God bless you. Celebrations throughout the funeral in Poland were presided by senior Bishop Edward Frankowski, who in the beginning gave greetings from the place of the Ordinary Bishop Christopher Nitkiewicz. Rev. Bishop at the beginning spoke kind and spiritual words on behalf ofthe Archbishop of Metropolitan Lublin, Stanislaw Budzik. Msgr. Adam Firosz said few words and gave a message from Archbishop of Czestochowa, Wencislaus Depo. The funeral was attended by approx. 65 priests, mostly colleagues from years of study and ordination of Fr. Adam and myself, sons of the Anna Galek. Before leaving to the cemetery a few priests, friends of my mother Anna and the family, said goodbye to her. The small historic wooden church was filled to the brim, some of the faithful stood on the outside. Together it was about 200 hundred people. There was active participation in the liturgy of the Mass and the funeral procession with an orchestra to the cemetery. All participants in the ceremony, thanked Fr. Adam and myself on behalf of the family. My mother is resting on the new part of the cemetery, in the family tomb next to her beloved husband Francis. May she rest in peace! One again thank you all, -Rev. Msgr. Peter Galek- Page Three Let us pray for our beloved who have past away and whom you have written on your All Souls’ Day envelopes. What do you see? Famished peoples in Africa? Sweatshop workers in India? Families subject to violence in Venezuela? Think again. Poverty and hunger are closer than they may seem. In the United States, 1 in 5 children are living below the poverty line and facing hunger every day. In efforts to combat the threats that hunger and poverty pose in the United States, the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) works empower the poor through self-help programs. They fund organizations in your neighborhood including Lake County Center for Independent Living, working to promote access to health care, affordable, accessible housing for low income resident and people with disabilities. This November 22nd and 23rd, join the millions of generous Chicagoans and support the Catholic Campaign for Human Development to help fund remarkable organizations. Please visit: www.ChicagoPeaceAndJustice.org/ CCHD for more information. Erik Smolen & Kelly Franzen GOD'S WORD TODAY During the time of Jesus, a talent was an extremely large sum of money. Sixty minas made up one talent and a mina equaled one hundred dinarii. Two thousand years ago, an average worker in Palestine earned one dinarius a day. When Jesus told the parable we hear in today's Gospel, he knew his listeners would realize that each of the servants had been entrusted with a huge sum of money. This money, well invested, had the potential for earning a tremendous amount more. The spiritual talents entrusted to us during our pilgrimage on earth also have the potential for yielding extraordinary results. These spiritual gifts must be invested. In other words, they must be used. When used, they help build up the kingdom of God. They bring peace and comfort to the despairing. They bring the good news to the disenfranchised. They bring food and shelter to the hungry and homeless. As the liturgical year winds down, this parable asks us to assess the extent to which we have invested our spiritual talents. Their potential is extraordinary. How extraordinary are the results of our investment of them in the last year? From Saint Margaret Sunday Missal, copyright (c) J. S. Paluch Company Copyright (c) J.
