Examen Final de Escuela Secundaria
Aviso a Padres, Tutores y Estudiantes
Para poder recibir un diploma de escuela secundaria, se requiere que todos los estudiantes en escuelas públicas de
California cumplan con los requisitos del Examen Final de Escuela Secundaria de California (CAHSEE) así como
todos los requisitos estatales y locales. El requisito de CAHSEE se puede satisfacer pasando el examen o, para
estudiantes con discapacidad, recibiendo un permiso local según la Sección 60851(c) del Código de Educación.
Todos los estudiantes, incluyendo aprendices de inglés y estudiantes discapacitados, deben tomar el CAHSEE por
primera vez en el décimo grado. Los estudiantes que no pasan el examen en el décimo grado tendrán oportunidades
adicionales en grados onceavo y doceavo para volver a tomar la parte(s) no pasada.
Qué Cubre el CAHSEE
El examen está dividido en dos partes: (1) inglés-artes del lenguaje (lectura y escritura) y (2) las matemáticas. Todas
las preguntas están alineadas a las normas académicas de California adoptadas por la Mesa Directiva de Educación.
Los contenidos de las normas describen lo que los estudiantes deben saber y ser capaces de hacer en cada nivel de
grado desde kindergarten hasta el doceavo grado. Usted puede descargar las copias detalladas “blueprints” de
prueba de CAHSEE en el Internet en http://www.cde.ca.gov/ta/tg/hs/admin.asp.
Requisitos para Pasar el CAHSEE
Para pasar el examen los estudiantes deben obtener un resultado de 350 puntos o más (inglés-artes del lenguaje y
las matemáticas) en cada parte de CAHSEE. Los estudiantes no tienen que pasar ambas partes del examen durante
la misma administración para satisfacer el requisito de CAHSEE.
Alojamientos y Modificaciones para Estudiantes Discapacitados
A los estudiantes se les debe permitir tomar el CAHSEE con alojamientos y modificaciones especificadas en su
programa de educación individualizado (IEP) o Plan de la Sección 504 para el uso en pruebas estandarizadas de
CAHSEE, o para el uso durante instrucción y evaluación en el salón de clases. Los estudiantes que usan un
alojamiento u obtienen un resultado de 350 puntos o más han pasado esa parte de CAHSEE. Los estudiantes que
usan una modificación y obtienen el equivalente de un resultado de pasar una o ambas partes de CAHSEE no han
pasado, pero pueden ser elegibles para un permiso hacia el requisito de CAHSEE. Los padres o tutores deben pedir
que el director presente un permiso para su estudiante. Información en cuanto a alojamientos, modificaciones, y el

Variaciones de Prueba para Aprendices de Inglés
A los aprendices de inglés se les debe permitir tomar el CAHSEE con ciertas variaciones de prueba si son usadas con
regularidad en el salón de clases. Es decir, si son usadas con regularidad en el salón de clases, a los aprendices de
inglés se les debe permitir oír las instrucciones de prueba en su idioma primario o usar un glosario de traducción.
Se requiere que estudiantes aprendices de inglés tomen el CAHSEE en el décimo grado al igual que todos los otros
estudiantes en el décimo grado. Durante sus primeros 24 meses en una escuela de California, los aprendices de
inglés deben recibir seis meses de instrucción en lectura, escritura, y comprensión en inglés (Sección 60852 del
Código de Educación). Durante este tiempo, todavía se requiere que ellos tomen el CAHSEE. Todos los estudiantes
deben pasar el CAHSEE en inglés para recibir su diploma de escuela secundaria.
Requisitos de Graduación
Para recibir su diploma de escuela secundaria, todos los estudiantes escolares públicos de California deben satisfacer los
requisitos de CAHSEE además de satisfacer todos los otros requisitos de graduación estatal y local, Los estudiantes
discapacitados y aprendices de inglés también deben satisfacer el requisito de CAHSEE.
Fechas de Pruebas- PRUEBA CAHSEE FECHAS POR DETERMINAR
El CAHSEE será administrado en la escuela durante horas escolares regulares en las fechas indicadas abajo. Los
estudiantes en el décimo grado deben tomar el CAHSEE durante la administración de febrero del.. Para estudiantes
ausentes en el décimo grado, se les ofrecerá tomar la prueba en marzo. Los estudiantes en el onceavo o doceavo grado
que no han pasado una o ambas partes del CAHSEE se les ofrecerá el examen en las fechas a continuación.

California High School Exit Examination
Notice to Parents, Guardians, and Students
All California public school students are required by state law to satisfy the California High School Exit Examination
(CAHSEE) requirement, as well as all other state and local graduation requirements, in order to receive a high school
diploma. The CAHSEE requirement can be satisfied by passing the exam or, for students with disabilities, receiving a local
waiver pursuant to Education Code Section 60851(c)4. All students, including English learners and students with disabilities,
must take the CAHSEE for the first time in grade ten. Students who do not pass the exam in tenth grade will have additional
opportunities in grades eleven and twelve to retake the part(s) not passed.
Subjects Covered on the CAHSEE
The exam consists of two parts: (1) English–language arts (reading and writing) and (2) mathematics. All questions are
aligned to California content standards adopted by the State Board of Education. Content standards describe what students
should know and be able to do at each grade level from kindergarten through grade twelve. Your school district can provide
you with information on the content standards assessed by the CAHSEE, or you can download the CAHSEE test blueprints
located on the California Department of Education (CDE) CAHSEE Web page at
http://www.cde.ca.gov/ta/tg/hs/resources.asp.
Requirements for Passing the CAHSEE
Students must earn a score of 350 or higher on each part of the CAHSEE (English–language arts and mathematics) to pass
the exam. Students do not need to pass both parts of the exam during the same administration in order to satisfy the
CAHSEE requirement.
Accommodations and Modifications for Students with Disabilities
The CAHSEE regulations specify accommodations and modifications that students with disabilities must be permitted to use
if specified in the student’s individualized education program (IEP) or Section 504 Plan for use on the CAHSEE, standardized
testing, or for use during classroom instruction and assessments. Students who use an accommodation and earn a score of
350 or higher have passed that part of the CAHSEE. Students who use a modification and earn the equivalent of a passing
score on one or both parts of the CAHSEE have not passed but may be eligible for a waiver of the CAHSEE requirement.
Parents or guardians must ask the school principal to submit a waiver on behalf of their student. More information on
accommodations, modifications, and the waiver process can be found on the CDE CAHSEE Web page at
http://www.cde.ca.gov/ta/tg/hs/accmod.asp.
Test Variations for English Learners
English learners must be permitted to take the CAHSEE with certain test variations if used regularly in the classroom. For
example, if regularly used in the classroom, English learners must be permitted to hear the test directions in their primary
language or use a translation glossary.
Students who are English learners are required to take the CAHSEE in grade ten with all other grade ten students. During
their first 24 months in a California school, English learners are to receive six months of instruction in reading, writing, and
comprehension in English (Education Code Section 60852). During this time, they are still required to take the CAHSEE. All
students must pass the CAHSEE in English to receive their high school diploma.
Graduation Requirements
All California public school students must satisfy the CAHSEE requirement, in addition to meeting all other state and local
graduation requirements, to receive their high school diploma. Students with disabilities and English learners must also
satisfy the CAHSEE requirement.
Testing Dates – TO BE DETERMINED
The CAHSEE will be administered at the school site during regular school hours on the dates specified in the chart below.
Students in grade ten must take the CAHSEE during the February administration. For grade ten students who are absent, a
make-up administration will be offered in March. Grade eleven and twelve students who have not passed one or both parts of
the CAHSEE will be offered the exam on the dates listed in the chart below.
