A Message from our Pastor
~ Thank you ~
Today we begin our parish retreat at Masses with
Dominican Father Bill Garrott. Please plan to come on
Monday-Wednesday evenings at 7:00PM. Encounter God’s
love in the anointed preaching of Fr. Bill.
In today’s Gospel, we might say that the great
commandment of love of God and love of neighbor is like
the “double helix” of DNA which makes up the human cell
structure. Like the intertwining strands that make up the
DNA, commands intertwine in such a way that they are
integral to each other. Just as the DNA is a part of the basic
make-up of the human person, physically, so the Great
Commandment is a part of our spiritual make-up.
Let us, body and soul, love God and love our neighbor as
yourself.

“The Lord hears the cries of the poor; blessed be the Lord"
In this Sunday's Gospel we find the truth that loving God
isn't merely a matter of fervor in our hearts, but that it must
be expressed in doing good for the sake of others.
With your Poor Box contributions and special envelope
collection, St. Vincent de Paul Society can do the 'good
work' of All Saints Parish. Responding to calls for
emergency financial assistance, Vincentians reach out to
our neighbors in their time of need. The extent of the
success of this mission depends entirely on your generosity,
and relies heavily on your prayers.
If you are facing a financial emergency, call 703-368-2429;

Bethany Food Pantry
One of our most beloved traditions at All Saints
Parish occurs every year during the month of
November. This is the month when the whole
Church remembers those who have passed from
this world, in hope of eternal life. At All Saints we
celebrate a special Mass for those of our parish family who
have died in the past year.
We wish to invite your family and friends to this special
Eucharist.
rd
The Pantry is currently providing assistance to nearly 350
families in the Manassas community. The average family
receives 26lbs of food every 2 weeks, providing clients with
more nutritional meals for their families. So that we can best
serve those in need, the Bethany Food Pantry is collecting
donations of non-perishable food items from the parishioners
of All Saints Church.
At this time we are especially in need of the following:
This special Mass will take place on Monday, November 3
at 7:30pm. Please know that you are in our prayers and in
the prayers of the community of All Saints.
Rice / beans / oatmeal and cold cereal / corn flour & white
flour / canned chicken and tuna / peanut butter / potatoes /
fruit / pasta sauce / baking and pancake mix
The 2014 All Saints Casino & Auction is
looking for donations from parish
businesses and families. Timeshares, travel
miles, sports tickets, or gift items are desired. We are also
looking for businesses to be sponsors of the event, a great
opportunity to promote your business to the school and
parish! For more information or to make a donation,
contact [email protected].
Dairy and meat products, as well as fresh produce, are always
in high demand. If your donation requires cold storage, please
contact Vickie Taylor at 703-368-4500 to schedule a drop off.
Your non-perishable donations to the pantry can be left in one
of the wooden bins located near each door of the church or
call so that we can best accommodate the delivery. If you
know of someone we can help, please let them know that the
Bethany Food Pantry is here to help. If you would like to
volunteer (Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri), please contact Vickie.
Thanks for your continued support.

Mark 10:46-52
They came to Jericho. And as he was leaving Jericho with his disciples and a sizable crowd, Bartimaeus, a blind man, the
son of Timaeus, sat by the roadside begging. On hearing that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out and say, “Jesus,
son of David, have pity on me.” And many rebuked him, telling him to be silent. But he kept calling out all the more, “Son
of David, have pity on me.” Jesus stopped and said, “Call him.” So they called the blind man, saying to him, “Take
courage; get up, he is calling you.” He threw aside his cloak, sprang up, and came to Jesus. Jesus said to him in reply,
“What do you want me to do for you?” The blind man replied to him, “Master, I want to see.” Jesus told him, “Go your
way; your faith has saved you.” Immediately he received his sight and followed him on the way.

Mark 5:25-34
There was a woman afflicted with hemorrhages for twelve years. She had suffered greatly at the hands of many doctors and
had spent all that she had. Yet she was not helped but only grew worse. She had heard about Jesus and came up behind him
in the crowd and touched his cloak. She said, “If I but touch his clothes, I shall be cured.” Immediately her flow of blood
dried up. She felt in her body that she was healed of her affliction. Jesus, aware at once that power had gone out from him,
turned around in the crowd and asked, “Who has touched my clothes?” But his disciples said to him, “You see how the
crowd is pressing upon you, and yet you ask, ‘Who touched me?’” And he looked around to see who had done it. The
woman, realizing what had happened to her, approached in fear and trembling. She fell down before Jesus and told him the
whole truth. He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has saved you. Go in peace and be cured of your affliction.”

Luke 10:38-42
As they continued their journey he entered a village where a woman whose name was Martha welcomed him. She had a
sister named Mary (who) sat beside the Lord at his feet listening to him speak. Martha, burdened with much serving, came
to him and said, “Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me by myself to do the serving? Tell her to help me.” The
Lord said to her in reply, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and worried about many things. There is need of only one thing.
Mary has chosen the better part and it will not be taken from her.”
