During Jesus’ ministry “he cured
many who were sick with various
diseases, and he drove out many
demons.” This is the case in today’s
Gospel. Jesus fulfills the vision of
Psalm 147: “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up
their wounds.”
Jesus knew, however, that he couldn’t possibly heal
all the illness in the world. No matter how many people
he cured or how many hours he ministered, there
always would be more suffering people like Job who
craved his healing touch. His primary mission was not
to rid the world of all suffering. His “purpose” was to
preach the coming of the reign of God that heals, yes,
but ultimately transcends and transforms earthly
suffering. With Paul, Jesus could have said, “Woe to
me if I do not preach” that good news.
Ashes will be distributed during all of the Masses on
Wednesday, February 18, 2015. The Masses will be held at
7:30 a.m., 12:15 p.m., 5:30 p.m., and 7:00 p.m. (OLPH
Novena: Prayers in private.)
Confessions will be held at 11:45 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
Stations of the Cross: During Lent, we invite you to join us
each day at 11:55 a.m. in the Shrine as we pray the Stations
of the Cross.
REMEMBER THE SICK OF THE PARISH
In your prayers, please keep in mind our sick,
homebound, and those in healthcare facilities including:
Mary Andora, Luz Betancourt, Baby Clark, Kathleen
Clark, Lew Clark, Gary Coch, Andres Colmines, Jr.
Susan Cuevas, Edward Dybcz, Katheleen Giampietro,
Luis Graulau, Pedro Graulau, Norman Greenberg,
Catalino Guzman, Jr., Sr. Ann L. Impink, Renee Kearns,
James Kernan, Nino Kin, Shannon Magbalon, Lisa
Marrero, Frank McCool, Gail McNamee, Antonio
Ramirez, Mike Rosin, Nilda Saraza, Karen Schwab &
Joe Sullivan. Please call the rectory office to add a
name to the list.
BEQUESTS
One of the simplest and most common ways of making a
planned gift is through a will or a living trust. A bequest in
a will can take the form of a fixed dollar amount, a specific
asset, a percentage of an estate, a trust, or the naming of a
charitable organization such as the Shrine of St. John
Neumann as a beneficiary. Leaving a gift in your will is a
very special act of generosity and foresight. If you would
like to remember the Shrine of St. John Neumann in your
will, please consult with your attorney.

~Reflection~
THE KING’S MEN
The King’s Men mission is to unite
and build up men as true leaders,
protectors, and providers. This is
achieved through weekly formation
and accountability groups, dynamic
outdoor experiential retreat programs,
and a call to action effort, which
enables men to engage the cultural
and social climate with authentic
apostolic zeal. The King’s Men’s
groups are the true heartbeat of this
lay apostolate. The goal of these
groups is to challenge men to grow in
their Catholic faith and in their
vocations as single men, husbands,
fathers, brothers, and sons. This is
fulfilled through prayer, reading,
discussion of great books, and the
King’s Men’s 4 Cs: Commit, Confess,
Challenge, and Confirm.

“I shall not see happiness again.”
With these words, Job concludes
his lament to the Lord. Job was
obviously in the depths of despair.
His words echo the way we can
feel when we allow life’s struggles
and disappointments to take hold
of us. The Lord Jesus, however,
has something else in mind for us.
The simple story in Mark’s Gospel
of the curing of Peter’s mother-inlaw shows us that the Lord wants
to lift us up out of any despair that
has set in. The Gospel is good
news for us. If today is a day when
we are feeling particularly
burdened
by
illness
or
disappointment, let us, like the
townspeople in today’s Gospel
story, bring our cares and gather
them at the Lord’s door. With
hope, let us be attentive to the
saving power of God’s sacred
word.

Durante su ministerio,
Jesús “curó a muchos enfermos
de diversos males y expulsó a
muchos demonios”.

¿Quieres alabar y
glorificar al Señor? Te invitamos al Círculo de Oración
carismático. Ven a darle honra y gloria al Señor. Ven a
Queremos conocerte. Te esperamos.

THE KING’S MEN
La misión de The King’s Men es unir y
construir los hombres como los
verdaderos líderes, protectores y
proveedores.
Grupos del The King’s Men
son el verdadero corazón de este
apostolado de laicos. El objetivo de estos
grupos es desafiar a los hombres a crecer
en su fe Católica y en sus vocaciones
como hombres solteros, esposos, padres,
hermanos e hijos. Esto se cumple a
través de la oración, la lectura, la
discusión de los grandes libros, y las 4
cualidades de The King’s Men:
Compromiso, Confesión, Desafío, y

~Reflexión~
“Mis ojos no volverán a ver la
dicha”.
Con estas palabras Job
concluye su lamento al Señor. Era
obvio que Job estaba profundamente
desesperado. Sus palabras son un eco
de cómo nos sentimos nosotros
cuando dejamos que las luchas y
desilusiones de la vida nos abatan.
Sin embargo, el Señor Jesús tiene
otros planes para nosotros. La
sencilla historia en el Evangelio de
Marcos sobre la curación de la suegra
de Pedro nos demuestra que el Señor
desea
sacarnos
de
cualquier
desesperanza en que estemos
hundidos. El Evangelio es una buena
nueva para nosotros. Si hoy es uno de
esos días en que te sientes
particularmente agobiado por una
enfermedad o una desilusión, igual
que sucedió con la gente del pueblo
en la historia del Evangelio de hoy,
pon todas tus preocupaciones a los
pies del Señor. Con esperanza,
pongamos atención al poder salvífico
de la palabra sagrada de Dios.
