Memory Project students: The Team will meet TODAY after school to work on the AGATE conference, the podcasts, the website,
the spoken word piece, and editing the new essays. See you in Room 333 from 3:45 to 4:45.
The Brain Bee Contest will be at 4:00pm TODAY in room 237 (Mrs. Chiu’s room).The contestants will answer questions (either
written or oral answers) about how the brain relates to intelligence, memory, …, etc, and will also be asked to identify specific
brain regions using a model of the human brain. Please be on time to attend the competition.

Attention Juniors: The Bezos Scholars Program @ Aspen Institute is now accepting applications for its annual Aspen Ideas Festival in Aspen,
Colorado June 27th – July 3rd. Thirty of the top high school juniors and leading educators from across the US and Africa will meet that week in a
series of seminars and informational meetings to discuss positive social and global change in their communities. Speakers will include retired Supreme
Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor, Twitter co-founder Biz Stone, and columnist David Brooks. This is an all expenses paid trip. Interested juniors

Attention Students: The Pi Omicron Graduate Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity is hosting its Annual Talent Hunt Scholarship Program on
Saturday, February 21st at Horace Mann Magnet Middle School at 12 pm. Monetary awards will be presented to the top four contestants, with 1st
place advancing to the District Talent Hunt program in Dallas on April 3rd all expenses paid. Interested students please stop by the Guidance Office
for an application.
Attention Juniors– Furman University is offering scholarship opportunities to current juniors. If you are interested in attending Furman and have a
3.5 GPA, please see Ms. Langston in the Guidance Office.
Attention Seniors planning on attending UALR: The Chancellor’s Leadership Corps is a comprehensive scholars program which focuses on learning,
leadership, and serving the community. Each year around 175 renewable four-year scholarships are offered, with award amounts ranging from $8,000
a year up to $32,000 for four years. Interested students must apply and be accepted to UALR, fill out the general scholarship application, and have
a minimum 3.0 GPA. Potential candidates for these scholarships will be screened for interviews as part of the selection process and a letter of
recommendation is strongly encouraged. The preferred deadline for consideration is February 1st with a final deadline of April 1st. Apply at

The National Society of Black Engineers-Arkansas Alumni Extension Chapter will host their 25th Annual Project Starting Block Seminar on February
21, 2015. This is a four-part mentoring program for African-American students that want to become engineers. The first seminar will be held at
UALR-EIT Auditorium 9:30 to 1:00 P.M. Come by guidance office to pick up packet. Packet is to be mailed by February 10, 2015.

Information Technology Careers Summer Camp is currently accepting applications for students who are interested in careers in technology. The
camp will be June 17-20, 2015. Students must apply online by February 15, 2015. The camp is free. Apply at

Attention Seniors: The Silas Carneal Jones Scholarship is now available for graduating seniors entering college or a vocational-technical school for
the first time. Interested students must have a 2.5 GPA and an ACT of at least 18. Please pick up applications in the guidance office.
Attention Seniors: The Rockefeller Scholarship Award was established by the late Winthrop Rockefeller back in 1953. This scholarship award is
for African-American students planning on attending any one of the accredited institutions within Pulaski County (Arkansas Baptist, Philander Smith
College, Pulaski Technical College, or UALR). Interested students must have a 2.5 GPA, letters of recommendation, good citizenship, financial need,
membership in a service or academic organization, and an acceptance letter. There will be multiple winners chosen from Central for this award.
Scholarship amounts will total $2,000. Please stop by the guidance office and see your counselor for an application.

Attention Seniors: The Little Rock chapter of Continental Societies Incorporated has released an academic scholarship in the amount of $500.
Applicants must be accepted to a four year college or university, and complete an essay, and have three letters of reference, among other selection
criteria. Applications must be mailed to the address listed on the application no later than February 21st. Please stop by the guidance office for an
application.
Attention Seniors: The Buick Achievers Scholarship Program has been released for 2015. Buick will award 50 scholarships worth $25,000 a year to
high school seniors planning on enrolling in a four year college or university in the Fall of 2015 and plan on majoring in engineering, technology, design,
or business with an interest in the automotive industry. Please visit www.buickachievers.com for more information.
Attention Seniors: The Beta Theta Pi fraternity at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville has released the Men of Principle Scholarship worth
$500 for incoming male freshmen who have good character, strong academics, and are active in the community. Please stop by the guidance office

Pulaski County Youth Services will be offering a free ACT preparation course. Courses are on Saturday mornings from March 7- April 11th. All 1012th graders who are interested can pick up applications in the guidance office or online at http://pulaskicountyyouthservicrs.org. Deadline for
applications is February 6, 2015, at 4:30 p.m.
The EduGuide Challenge is calling all students to create your own "Drum Major" video. Students in grades 9-12 are invited to submit your own 1-5
minute video message about the legacy you want to leave. Video must be submitted by 11:59 pm on February 20, 2015. For rules please go to

The Society of American Military Engineers offers engineering and construction summer camps for high school students interested in those fields.

Attention Seniors: Regions Bank announces the Regions Riding Forward Scholarship Essay Contest. This contest honors and celebrates the
contributions made by African-Americans and kicks off Regions 2015 Black History Campaign. One high school senior will be awarded a $5,000
scholarship. Students must complete a 500 word essay about how an African-American has inspired and motivated him or her. For contest details,

Attention Seniors: The Roosevelt L. Thompson Scholarship is for graduating seniors at Little Rock Central High School who plan to attend an
accredited four year college or university in the United States. In awarding the scholarship, the committee seeks someone who best exemplifies the
ideals and qualities of Roosevelt Thompson. Scholarship recipients shall be selected on the basis of their demonstrated academic excellence,
leadership, financial need and commitment to public service. Apply online at www.arcf.org February 1-April 1, 2015. The scholarship is $2000 plus
matching grant of $2000 for a total of $4000, renewable for three years if the student maintains a record of excellence.
Attention Seniors: The Dr. Phillis L. Nichols-Anderson Faith-Based Book Scholarship is now available for graduating African-American seniors.
Students must submit a completed application, two letters of recommendation, and a typed 400 to 500 word essay. Mandatory interviews are also
part of the selection process. There will be three book scholarships awarded each valued at $2,000, $1,000, and $500. Please stop by the guidance
office for an application.
Attention Seniors: The Elegant Ladies Club, Incorporated has announced two scholarships (one for $1,000 and one for $500) to be awarded to a
deserving African-American student. You must have a 2.5 cumulative GPA, demonstrate strong leadership ability, have good character, active in
community service projects, and demonstrate financial need. Please stop by the guidance office for an application. Applications are due no later than
March 10th, 2015.
Attention Seniors: The Little Rock Chapter of the Links, Incorporated awards scholarships to one or more graduating female minority students who
plan on attending a four-year accredited college or university. Scholarships are awarded in amounts ranging from $2,000 to $2,500 for selected
finalists. Applicants must have at least a 3.0 GPA, a minimum ACT of 20 or SAT of 460, have good moral character and citizenship, and demonstrate
financial need. Applications must be turned in to Mrs. Moore in the guidance office no later than March 31st, 2015.
Attention Seniors: The Arkansas School Boards Association Educational Foundation Freshmen Scholarship Program is designed to benefit the
sons/daughters of Arkansas School Board Members. Four Scholarships are awarded annually (one from the state’s four congressional districts). A
one-time scholarship of at least $600 will be awarded to a son/daughter of publicly elected Arkansas School Board members, of which the memberparent must be serving on his/her local board on September 1st of the school year in which the scholarship is awarded. Additional requirements are
listed on the application. Please stop by the guidance office for an application.
