Scholarship applications are available in the Counseling, College & Career Center. Available scholarships can also be viewed
in Naviance by clicking on Scholarship link under Colleges tab. Applications requiring an official high school transcript or a
counselor’s signature must be submitted to the Counseling Center 15 school days prior to postmark deadline. Official
transcripts must be mailed directly from our office to the scholarship. Most colleges offer available scholarships when
students apply to their school. Please contact prospective colleges to inquire about scholarship opportunities.
American Legion American Studies Mohawk Post #1450 Scholarships – Each year Mohawk Post #1450 sponsors six scholarships
for high school seniors. There are four ways to qualify for six scholarships offered. More information and applications are available
in the Counseling Center and the deadline to the Counseling Center is March 18, 2015.
American Legion Auxiliary offers many scholarships to high school seniors. The amounts, deadlines and qualifications vary. Visit
www.legion.org, and click on programs tab for more information. Additionally, there are scholarships for students who are daughters,
granddaughters, great-granddaughters, sons, grandsons, or great-grandsons of veterans at www.deptny.org, click on programs tab,
under Education. Completed applications should be submitted to the Counseling Center by February 2, 2015.
Association of Fire Districts of the State of New York is offering four “Ned Carter” scholarships in the amount of $1,500 each to
seniors who will be graduating in June. The student MUST be related to a firefighter, be a firefighter, or be an explorer in a fire
department that is a member of The Association of Fire Districts of the State of New York. These awards will be presented to those
who will be pursuing post-secondary careers in community service-related areas at either a two or four year college. Applications are
available in the Counseling Center and need to be returned completed by February 9, 2015.
Chango Elementary PTA Scholarship – Two scholarships of $750 each will be awarded to graduating seniors. Student must be a
graduate of Chango and have attended at least two years. Student must also have a satisfactory academic record (B or above) and
demonstrate participation in at least two of the following areas: extra-curricular activities, sports, clubs, community activities, family
responsibilities, and/or employment. Applications are available in the Counseling Center and the deadline to the Counseling Center is
March 6, 2015.
Christy Fund - This scholarship was set up in remembrance of Christina Massa, a member of the Class of 2002. The fund will award
two $500 grants to student athletes who plan to continue their secondary education and one $500 grant to a business/marketing student
who also plans to continue their secondary education in business/marketing. Applications are available in the Counseling Center and
the deadline to submit application is March 19, 2015.
CSEA Kenneth Plummer Memorial Scholarship – A $600 scholarship to a graduating senior who are children or dependents of
members of Shenendehowa Unit 8458. This scholarship is based on academic achievement, as well as involvement in extracurricular
activities, sports, community activities and/or employment. Student must be planning to attend a 2 or 4 year college or university.
Applications are available in the Counseling Center. Deadline to submit is March 2, 2015.
Dollars for Scholars – is offering several scholarships: Knights of Columbus-Roland Felano Memorial Scholarship, Community
News Scholarship, Adam Haswell Memorial Scholarship, Susan Jill Hughes Memorial Scholarship, New York Long Term Care
Brokers Ltd., Nicole Lee Memorial Scholarship, Patrick James O’Donnell Memorial Scholarship, Matthew Proctor Memorial
Scholarship, Robert Stewart Memorial Scholarship, and TWP Creative Excellence Award. Apply online at
http://shenendehowa.dollarsforscholars.org and click on students & parents tab, enter school name, fill in profile information and
follow prompts. You may email any questions you have regarding application process to [email protected]. Please request
transcript and counselor recommendation by March 2nd. Also, please stop into the Counseling Center to confirm your request was
received.
Elks National Foundation Legacy Awards are for seniors who are the child or grandchild (or step-child, step-grandchild, or legal
ward) of a living Elk member. Applications are available online only at www.elks.org/enf/scholars , click on Legacy Awards. The
deadline to apply is January 30, 2015.
Friends of the Clifton Park-Halfmoon Public Library Community Scholarship – will award two scholarships of $1,000 each to
students who plan to attend an accredited two or four year college or university in the fall. Scholarship recipients must be
Shenendehowa High School students and/or residents of the Library tax district. Applications are available in the Counseling Center
and also the Library. Students should return completed applications to the Library by March 6th. If you need a counselor
recommendation letter for this scholarship, please make your request to the Counseling Center by February 11, 2015.
Hudson River Community Credit Union - Hudson River in partnership with the Credit Union Association of New York is offering
the 2015 Statewide Credit Union Association of New York Scholarship in the amount of $1,000 or $500 to be paid jointly to the
student and educational institute. Student must be a member of a participating New York credit union to apply and must be planning
to attend college for the first time in the fall. Applications are available in the Counseling Center and are due to Counseling by
January 13, 2015.
MS Society Scholarship – The National Multiple Sclerosis Society is offering scholarships ranging from $1,000 - $3,000 to seniors
with MS or who have a parent with MS and will be attending an accredited post-secondary school in the fall. Students must apply
online at www.nationalmssociety.org/scholarship by January 15th.
NYS Scholarship for Academic Excellence will award (2) $1500 and (20) $500 renewable scholarships to Shenendehowa graduating
seniors who plan to attend college in New York State. These scholarships will be awarded pending the appropriation of funds during
the 2015 session of the State Legislature. Nominees must plan on attending a college or university in New York State & have
been a NYS resident for one year prior to September 30, 2014. Winners will be chosen using Method B which is based on class rank
among those who sign up to be considered. Interested students must give their name to Mrs. Butera in the Counseling, College &
Career Center before January 16, 2015.
Okte Elementary PTA Scholarship will award three scholarships of $500 each to deserving seniors who formerly attended Okte for
at least three years. The scholarship will be paid by the beginning of the fall semester to each recipient’s college or university. More
information is available in the Counseling Center. Applications must be returned to Counseling by March 6, 2015.
Phi Delta Kappa International annually awards a $500 scholarship to a high school senior who plans to attend college and major in
education. Applications are available in the Counseling Center and need to be returned to the Counseling Center by February 2nd.
PTA Stanley Marcus Youth Humanitarian Award – This award is presented to juniors or seniors for outstanding volunteer
community service and for having displayed humanitarian principles by word and deed in memory of Stanley Marcus who died in
1977 while serving as third vice president of the New York State Congress of Parents and Teachers. Applications are available on the
NYS PTA website at www.nyspta.org, resources tab, click on students. Please bring completed applications to the Counseling
Center by January 14, 2015.
Skano Elementary PTA Scholarships – Skano is offering three $750 scholarships to former Skano students, two academic
scholarships and one in memory of Lisa Kunz, who was a dedicated Skano parent. The student must have graduated from Skano and
attended for at least two years. Applications are available in the Counseling Center and should be returned by March 5, 2015.
SEFCU and the Credit Union Association of New York (CUANY) are offering scholarships to credit union members. If you are the
primary member on a SEFCU account and plan to attend a 2 or 4-year college for the first time in the fall, you are eligible to apply for
one of several scholarships. Students can visit www.sefcu.com/scholarships to learn more about each award. For applications, email
[email protected] or call 518-452-8234, ext. 4236. Application deadline to the Counseling Center is January 13, 2015.
Southern Saratoga County Women’s Club – Is offering a $500 scholarship based on financial need, volunteer activities and
academics. More information and applications are available in the Counseling Center and must be returned by March 13, 2015.
TCT Federal Credit Union is participating in the statewide college scholarship program. If you are a member of TCT Federal
Credit Union or another participating credit union and plan to attend a 2 or 4-year college for the first time in the fall, you are eligible
to apply. Applications are available in the Counseling Center and need to be returned by January 12, 2015.
Tina A. Dailey Memorial Scholarship – A $4,000 scholarship is being offered to a Shenendehowa High School graduate who plans
to attend an accredited four-year college or university or two-year college with the intent of transferring to a four-year college to
pursue a degree and career as an elementary teacher. Students must have maintained a minimum of an 80 average and have
demonstrated an interest and/or skill in working with children. Applications are available in the Counseling Center and must be
returned by March 1, 2015.
Upper Hudson River Quality Deer Management Association is offering two $500 scholarships. Applicants should be familiar with
the ideas of quality deer management and plan to pursue a degree in environmental or agricultural sciences or a field that will
positively impact the quality of deer management. Applications are available in the Counseling Center. The deadline is
February 1, 2015.
