“Oh Mary, We Crown Thee With Blossoms Today”
The Mission School May Crowning Mass was a beautiful celebration of our Blessed Mother. The wet
weather did not dampen the emotions of the day as the school children entered the Basilica under rainy
skies. As is tradition, the second graders and eighth graders were dressed in their First Communion and
graduation finery. Their white dresses and classic suits added to the ceremonious feel of the day. During
the pre-procession one flower bearer from every grade placed a vase of beautiful spring flowers at the base
of the statue of Mary. Monsignor McKiernan celebrated the Mass and the combined choirs sang joyfully
throughout. The students’ voices beautifully honored Mary as they sang “Ave Maria”, “Hail Holy Queen”
“Breath of Heaven” and “Immaculate Mary”. At the conclusion of the Mass the eighth graders came
together on the altar steps to crown Mary in a moving ceremony. It was a special day at Mission School as
the students were reminded of the young woman who said “yes”.
WOMEN OF FAITH PRESENTS…… “LESSONS ON FORGIVENESS”
Guest Speaker: Erin Griffin
Saturday, June 6, 2015 from 9:30 to 11:30 AM (early bird breakfast at 9 AM)
Mission Pastoral Center, Room D. No charge. No reservations necessary. Bring a friend!
After the Rwandan genocide in 1994, the people of Rwanda had to take the first steps toward forgiveness in
order to begin healing their country. How did this happen and what were the repercussions? What can
their example teach us about the meaning of forgiveness? Erin Griffin is the daughter of Robin and Deacon
Gary Griffin. She was raised in San Juan Capistrano and attended Mission School. Erin is a humanitarian
filmmaker and world traveler specializing in non-profit consulting, and peace and conflict film
production. She lived and worked in Rwanda in 2009 and directed a short film called, “To Forgive.” All
women are welcome to attend…..contact Eileen Smith 949-234-1354 or [email protected] for
further information.

Championships, 187 league championships and 8 state championships, 47
SMCHS athletes have earned the title of CIF Player of the Year and a lot of
them got their start in youth summer camps. The Eagle Athletic program
understands the value in offering summer camps for children looking to
become involved in high school sports and just enjoy learning new skills
including teamwork and commitment. Youth camps are designed for young
athletes in elementary school through middle school. Youth camps are open to
all young people in the local community. Visit www.smhs.org/summercamps to

DO YOU LIKE TO SEW?
Help is needed to make Baptismal Garments for infants. Do you have sewing experience and a sewing
machine? Would you like to be of service to our young families? Approximately 20 garments per month
are needed. The work would be done in your own home and would be part of your “time” given to the
parish in service to the Church. The baptismal garments are a simple pattern and easy to make. They are a
beautiful gift to our infants being baptized into our Catholic faith. Please contact Debi at [email protected] or

Mission Basilica San Juan Capistrano
Declaración de la Parroquia de la Misión
`Nosotros, la comunidad Católica de la Misión Basílica San Juan Capistrano,
un lugar de peregrinación y de paz,
estamos llamados a movernos “siempre adelante”.
Niños: ¿Qué dones he recibido del Espiritu Santo?
NUEVOS. Es Pentecostés. Si quieres… ¡TODO ES POSIBLE!
LECTURAS DE LA SEMANA
Lunes:

Martes: Sir 35:1-12; Sal 50 (49):5-8, 14, 23;

Viernes: Sir 44:1, 9-13; Sal 149:1b-6a, 9b;
Mc 11:11-26
