TOWARD HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS
From the beginning of creation, God intended for people to live together in relationship with one another. Much of scripture
shows us how to do this as it illustrates and clarifies God's plans. The readings this weekend guide us in the value and care of our
relationships. Specifically, the Gospel focuses on the circumstances of failed relationships. Unlike the Pharisees, we would do
well not to focus on the laws that pertain to failed relationships, but concentrate instead on what God really intended for us.
Healthy bonds require a lot of our time and energy. They certainly require trust and honesty. Jesus demonstrated a deep
commitment to his friends and to us. As our brother, he gave his very life for us. Children work hard at friendships. They trust,
forgive, and love without conditions. The final words of today's Gospel invite us to welcome Jesus and the people of our
relationships with the fresh enthusiasm of a child.
CAMINO A RELACIONES SALUDABLES

A paragraph from the book, Days of the Lord, vol.5
p.250 will hopefully help us better understand what St.
Paul in saying in our second reading, Hebrews 2:9-11, “Christ occupies an unqualified
position in relation to God, not only because he is his Son, but also because he has
accepted to see himself “for a little while lower than the angels.” Moreover, he is “crowned
with glory and honor because he suffered death.” He has thus made possible the fulfillment of the plan of
God, who wanted to “bring many children to glory.” B y his acceptance to personally experience death, in
obedience to his Father, he has reversed the meaning of death. The terrible consequences of Adam’s
disobedience has become “by the grace of God” the cause of salvation for all.” He, for whom and through
whom all things exist” has directly implicated himself in this work of redemption. He allowed his Son to
become of the same race as human sinners in order to save them. The broken relationship between God
and humankind is thus marvelously restored, thanks to the son of God made human being, by the initiative
of the offended one (God, the Father). From all eternity united with the Father in an indissoluble way.
From now on one with humans through his incarnation and his experience of death, Christ has bridged the
impossible abyss between heaven and earth.”
We sincerely care about you and we are here for you. Please call CC at 909-797-2533 ext. 221
