GOD IS WITH US
The book of Wisdom tells us that the
spirit of God is in all things. What a
wonderful thought, and what a wonderful
image to keep in front of us as we travel
down life’s road. For if the path is revealed
in the treading, it’s good to know that God is with us—and
all around us—every step of the way.
But Paul knows that this divine presence is not timid.
Instead, God calls out to us, and Paul prays that we, along
with the Thessalonians, might be made worthy of that call.
And who knows more about God’s call than Zacchaeus, the
tax collector? Jesus called him out of a tree, for goodness’
sake. Or perhaps more correctly, as we reflect upon the end
of today’s Gospel reading, for heaven’s sake.
Question of the Week
Pregunta de la Semana
Question for Children: Jesus showed that he loved
Zacchaeus by having supper with him. How does Jesus show
his love for you?
Question for Youth: Jesus saw Zaccheaus as he was –
mistakes and all. What masks, if any, do you hide behind so
others won't see who you really are? Who do you trust to see
your true self?
Question for Adults: Why do you suppose Jesus was so
kind to Zacchaeus? What lesson do you draw from this
reading regarding those who are considered "public sinners"
today?

Remembrance Mass
Wednesday, November 02, at 6:00 p.m.
To honor members of our parish family and other close relatives who
have died since All Souls’ Day 2015, we will celebrate a special
Mass of Remembrance. The church takes this day to remember all
those who have died and “gone before us marked with the sign of faith.” In faith, we
believe that we remain united with our loved ones because the Kingdom of God is not
bound by death. The Book of Remembrance will be displayed in the Narthex, and we
invite those, who’s loved one has died in the past year, to write THE NAME OF THE
DECEASED in this book. All are encouraged to bring a picture of a deceased relative
or friend, no larger than 8X10, for display in front of the Altar. For those of you, who
wish to have a photo of your loved one shown on the screen, please forward a photo,
via e-mail, to [email protected], no later than Thursday, October 25.
We invite one representative from each family to participate in an opening procession
by carrying a lit candle, purchased for $5.00 at the parish office, or from ushers
before or after each weekend Mass. Candles will remain burning throughout the
Mass. After the Mass, all are invited for a small gathering at the Parish Center.
Please bring a dish to share. For additional information, contact Ursula Benitez at

The Ladies from Mother’s in Faith would like to invite
Stephen Ministry …
One of the most important characteristics
of a Stephen Minister is being “Full of
Faith”, one of the traits he/she will treasure
and share with others hopefully throughout
his/her life. The Stephen Ministers use the Old Testament
Psalms (David’s songs, poems, and prayers to God the
Father) to motivate and inspire their care receivers to a
deeper, understanding and appreciation of God the
Father resulting hopefully in deepening their faith and
love of Him. The Psalms are wonderful prayers and help
us with our own prayer lives. There are so many uplifting,
joyful parts of dozens of them that can hopefully make a
difference for anyone feeling dejected or depressed. I’ve
copied 2 for you to illustrate, leaving out the lines that are
more somber, which you can do too.
“I will praise you, Lord, with all my heart;
I will declare your wondrous deeds.
I will delight and rejoice in you;
I will sing hymns to your name, most high.”
Psalm 9A
“I bless the Lord, who counsels me;
Even at night my heart exhorts me.
I keep the Lord always before me;
With the Lord at my right I shall never be shaken.
Therefor my heart is glad, my soul rejoices:
My body also dwells secure,
You will show me the path of life.
Abounding joy in your presence,
The delights at your right hand forever.”
Psalm 16 II
