Go therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing
them in the name of the Father, and of the
Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them
to observe all that I have commanded
you.”
(Matthew 28:19-20)
We welcome into the Roman Catholic
Church those who were baptized:
Julian Andreas Pardo
who was baptized June 28, 2015
“For this reason a man shall leave his
father and mother and be joined to his
wife, and the two shall become one
flesh. So they are no longer two, but one
flesh. Therefore, what God has joined
together, no human being must
separate."

We congratulate those who celebrated the Sacrament
of Marriage in our church last weekend:
Jeffrey Brooks & Rachael Moran

is anyone among you sick? They should summon the
presbyters of the church, and they should pray over
them and anoint them with oil in the name of the
Lord.”

FOURTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
'I have decided to announce an Extraordinary Jubilee
which has at its centre the mercy of God. It will be a
Holy Year of Mercy. We want to live in the light of
the word of the Lord: “Be merciful, even as your
Father is merciful” (cf. Lk 6:36). And this especially
applies to confessors! So much mercy!
This Holy Year will commence on the next Solemnity
of the Immaculate Conception and will conclude on
Sunday, 20 November 2016, the Solemnity of Our
Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe and living face
of the Father's mercy.' Pope Francis
The proclamation, called a “bull of indiction,” is titled
“Misericordiae Vultus” (“The Face of Mercy”) and
explains how in Jesus Christ, in his words and actions,
the mercy of God has been revealed. Pope Francis states that he wants the year to be a time for
Catholics to contemplate just how merciful God has been to them and to understand better how they
are called to be merciful to others in turn.
MERCY IS “THE BEATING HEART OF THE GOSPEL.”
“How much I desire that the year to come will be steeped in mercy, so that we can go out to every
man and woman, bringing the goodness and tenderness of God.” Pope Francis
“May the balm of mercy reach everyone, both believers and those far away, as a sign that the
kingdom of God is already present in our midst.” Pope Francis
During the summer weeks, we will be featuring information about the upcoming Jubilee of Mercy,
“Misericordiae Vultus” (“The Face of Mercy”) and opportunities for you to become more involved and
immersed in this year. Please follow in the bulletin or on our website. www.svmnj.org

SUNDAY READINGS
FOURTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
First Reading: Ezekiel 2:2-5
Ezekiel is moved to respond to the call of God and to
accentuate his teaching with a direct reference to the
Word of God.
Second Reading: II Corinthians 12:7-10
Paul had questioned the value of his suffering, and God
replied, “My grace is enough for you, for strength is
made perfect in weakness.” Paul then realized that
although he was weak against persecution, he was
strong in faith.
Gospel: Mark 6:1-6a
Jesus could do little for those in his own part of the
country, for their lack of faith in him was so great.
Therefore, he spent much of his time teaching in
neighboring villages instead.

CHRISTIAN FORMATION
Registering for Religious Education in the academic
year 2015-2016
Christian Faith Formation is our program for grades
Kindergarten-8th. Incoming sixth graders all move
into our Junior High Program. If you have a child going
into high school you should be receiving information
from Youth Ministry- the Confirmation Program, whose
Director is Ms. Anne Marie Gisoldi. Their registration
and payment is separate from ours. The information for
registration should be addressed to Jody Costello,
secretary at [email protected], 973-377-4000 ext.
301.
For new families interested in registering, please
contact us for a program brochure with your education
options. All currently enrolled families should have
received their re-registration forms in the mail by now
and we ask that you please return them promptly. To
sign up for one of the options we ask that you carefully
consider which option best suits the way your child
learns and what is best for the family as a whole.
Remember space sometimes can be limited in certain
programming so we urge you to return your completed
paperwork in a timely fashion.
If you have a child in preschool, please contact us to
learn more about the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd
Program. If your child has special needs, we also can
share with you about our God’s Rainbow program. One
great way to evangelize and spread the word about the
love of Jesus is to invite others to come to know Him.
Please contact Denise Stefanelli, Director in the
Christian Formation Office, 2nd floor of the Ministry

OUR LADY OF MT. CARMEL
Thursday, July 16 at the 8:30 a.m. Mass, we will
celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, the
Patronal Feast of the Carmelite Order of friars and
sisters. Its spirituality finds its inspiration in the prophet
Elijah, who saw from Carmel a cloud in the distance that
would bring rain after a drought. That 'rain bearing
cloud' became an image of the 'savior bearing Mary.
Intercessionary prayers will be offered at the conclusion
of the Mass, scapulars will be blessed and distributed
and a light reception will follow. All are invited. If
anyone wishes to bake for the reception, please call Joan
Graziano at 973-377-4151.
A Family Perspective
Today's Gospel is so familiar, it hurts! The home town
folks coundn't accept the presence of God in Jesus. After
all, they had watched him grow up. We can easily make
the same mistake if we don't see God present in the
ordinary routines of our family. "The Lord be with you" is
a statement of fact. Believe it. Live It.

La colecta del Pasado 28 de Junio
fue de $210 Dólares.
Dios multiplique su generosidad.
respondido: “Te basta mi gracia,
porque mi poder se manifiesta en
la debilidad”.
Primera Lectura: Ez 2, 2-5
ellos te envío para que les
comuniques mis palabras. Y ellos,
te escuchen o no, porque son una
raza rebelde, sabrán que hay un
profeta en medio de ellos”.
Segunda Lectura: 1Cor. 12, 7b-10
Hermanos: Para que yo no me llene
de soberbia por la sublimidad de las
revelaciones que he tenido, llevo
una espina clavada en mi carne, un
enviado de Satanás, que me
abofetea para humillarme. Tres
cosas? ¿De dónde le viene esa
sabiduría y ese poder para hacer
milagros? ¿Qué no es éste el
carpintero, el hijo de María, el
hermano de Santiago, José, Judas y
Simón? ¿No viven aquí, entre
nosotros, sus hermanas?” Y
estaban desconcertados.
Pero Jesús les dijo: “Todos honran a
un profeta, menos los de su tierra,
sus parientes y los de su casa”. Y no
pudo hacer allí ningún milagro, sólo
curó a algunos enfermos
imponiéndoles las manos. Y estaba
extrañado de la incredulidad de
aquella gente. Luego se fue a
enseñar en los pueblos vecinos.
