Bulletin - East Hill Church of Christ

East Hill News
The Great Declaration
I am a part of the Lord’s church and unashamed. The die has
been cast. I have stepped over the line. The decision has been
made. I am a disciple of Jesus Christ. I will not look back, let
up, slow down, back away, or be still.
My past is redeemed, my present makes sense, and my future
is secure. I am finished and done with low living,
sight walking, small planning, smooth knees, colorless
dreams, tame visions, mundane talking,
chintzy giving, and dwarfed goals.
I no longer need preeminence, prosperity, position, promotion,
plaudits or popularity. I don’t have to be right, first, tops,
recognized, praised, regarded or rewarded.
I now live by presence, learn by faith, love by patience, lift by
prayer and labor by power. My pace is set, my gait is fast, my
goal is HEAVEN, my road is narrow, my way is rough, my
companions few, my GUIDE is reliable, my mission is clear.
I cannot be bought, compromised, deterred, lured away,
turned back, diluted or delayed. I will not flinch in the face of
sacrifice, hesitate in the presence of adversity, negotiate at the
table of the enemy, ponder at the pool of popularity, or
meander in the maze of mediocrity. I will not give up, back
up, let up, or shut up until I have preached up, prayed up, paid
up, stored up, and stayed up for the cause of Christ.
I am a disciple of Jesus Christ. I must go until He returns, give
until I drop, preach until all know, and work until He comes.
And when He comes to get His own,
He will have no problem recognizing me.
My colors will be clear, “For I am not ashamed of the
gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation
to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first,
and also to the Greek” (Romans 1:16).
East Hill Church Of Christ:
A place
where Jehovah is exalted,
Jesus Christ is Savior,
the Bible is respected,
Christians love one another
and heaven is our final goal.

ROOTED AND BUILT UP
Do You Remember?
As many of you know Kelley is Pregnant! This has
brought excitement, joy, tears, fear, and blessings.
What a honor that has been bestowed upon us as a
young couple! We are extremely excited about this
blessing. Here is the simple truth of what we are
thinking: “There is a great deal of work to do!” I do
understand that we are not the only individuals with
things going on in our lives that take work and effort. Everyone feels pressure of life, time, family,
or many other things every day. It really becomes a
discussion upon how we react to regular life.
Comments made after the Christian Servants Day
in recent years were “The best day of the year!”
“One of the greatest spiritual days of my life”
“When I come here my cup is filled with rich blessings” “We will be back next year for sure!” These
comments were from those who had driven several
miles to attend – precious ones who gave up their
Saturday for spiritual reasons. So REMEMBER with
me and be encouraged as we are just a few days
away from the 2015 edition of Christian Servants
Day!
It reminds me of a story of a tree that stayed standing in the middle of town. Here is how the story
goes: It was about 9 PM and everyone was home
enjoying time together. Many were watching TV,
some had it on in the background, and others did
not have the TV on. All of a sudden they begin to
hear a very loud siren and the TV channels change
over to the local news station: A STORM IS COMING! Rain, lightening, hail, and the biggest tornado
on state record moved through this little town. Every building in the downtown area was destroyed.
Only one large tree was left remaining. Experts
came in to study this great storm surviving tree.
The only explanation they could give was that it
was properly and deeply rooted in the ground.
Make your plans to be present. Bring your Bibles
and an open mind and heart. Bring an attitude of “I
want to be the best person for the Master and serve
Him in every way possible.” See you there, Lord
willing.
Notice Colossians 2:6-8:
“As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the
Lord, so walk ye in him: Rooted and built up in
him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been
taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving. Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy
and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the
rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.”
We are the tree in the middle of the town. When the
storms of pressure, fear, worry, concern, and problems come we must stand strong. We must know
that we are “rooted and built up in HIM!” This
means that we will be established in the faith by the
teaching and will be able to be thankful in passing
through the storm. Remember we can survive and
thrive in a life with Christ!

Richly Blessed Spiritually
In March we have an awesome spiritual feast with
brother Gary Hampton returning to present a Series
Of Lessons. Having enjoyed him being with us previously we know of the rich material with which we
will be challenged.
In May the 25th Annual TRUTH IN LOVE Lectures will be a special privilege. The theme for this
series will be “Laying Up Treasures In Heaven”
and will focus on practical, day-to-day ways in
which we can prepare for eternity. Read the words
of Jesus in Matthew 6:19-21 and hear our Master
speak of NOT laying up treasures on earth and DEFINITELY laying up treasures in heaven. The speakers will include some who have been here in previous years along with some new ones.
In June we will enjoy (Lord willing) Summer Bible
School and Vacation Bible School - a special treat.
Surely we ALL have the point – our elders have
blessed us with many opportunities to study, learn,
grow spiritually. Please – do not neglect them. Do
not take them for granted. Put your heart and soul
into being the best you can be – for the Master.
