About the Centre for Advanced Materials Processing
and Testing:
The Centre for Advanced Materials Processing and Testing
(CAMPT) has been established with the support from Department
of Science and Technology, Govt. of India under FIST grant in
2010. The Centre houses 2 kW Continuous Wave Nd:YAG laser
source, Hybrid Laser Arc Welding, ABB Six-axes robot, 100 kN
Instron Servo UTM, Mahr Surface Profiler, VISIO Video Profiler,
CNC Turning, CNC Milling, MQL system for machining, Kistler
cutting force dynamometer, Infrared Pyrometers, EDM,
Wire-EDM, Bottom Pouring Stir Casting and TIG/MIG welding
sources. The mission of the Center is to promote researches on
Advanced Joining and Advanced Machining with the objective of
improving performance and industrial competitiveness of existing
materials and methods and development of new products and
processes.
About the workshop:
The CAMPT, VIT University in association with Optilase
Techniks India Private Ltd., Chennai is organizing a One Day
Workshop on “Emerging Applications of Laser Technology in
Manufacturing” on 13th February 2015 at VIT University, Vellore
campus. Over the years Laser based technologies occupied a
dominating position in manufacturing sector. This workshop will
present the emerging applications of laser technology for materials
processing. Case-studies in laser welding, laser hybrid arc welding,
laser cladding, laser surface modification and laser assisted machining of ceramics and hard metals will also form part of the
workshop. There will be a demo session in the workshop using our
