Prefaces 2015 High School Student Juried Exhibition Exhibition Dates: May 2-31, 2015 Awards sponsored by The Tidewater Chapter of The Society, Inc. Eligibility Competition is open to full-time students in grades 10, 11 and 12 enrolled in public, private or parochial high schools in Newport News, Hampton, Poquoson, York County, WilliamsburgJames City County. Homeschooled youth ages 14-17 may also enter. Entry Rules (Please read carefully) 1. All works must be ORIGINAL. Manipulations of copyrighted images and reproductions will not be accepted. 2. Each student may submit one entry. 3. Works in any medium are eligible. 4. Size restrictions, no more than: 32 x 42 inches for 2-dimensional works; 36 x 36 x 36 for 3-dimensional works. 5. Complete the entry form and attach identification label to the upper back (2-D) or bottom (3-D). 6. All work must have been completed during Summer 2014 or the 2014-15 school year; homeschool students, June 2014 to present. 7. All entries must be ready to exhibit. All 2D works must be matted. Students are encouraged to frame and wire their work for hanging. Or, work can be covered with clear acetate with NO hangers; they will be installed by PFAC with L-hooks. And please, no sawtooth hangers. 8. No exhibited or sold works may be removed before the close of the exhibition. Responsibility Although reasonable care will be taken, Peninsula Fine Arts Center does not assume responsibility for lost or damaged works. Juror: Kristin Skees, artist, professor, Christopher Newport University, was raised in Birmingham, Alabama. She has a BFA from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, a MFA from the University of Arizona, and a MLIS from the University of Alabama. She works in a variety of media, including digital photography, experimental fibers, digital video and installation, and shows her work nationally and internationally. Her photographs are found in various private and public collections, including the Cohen Family Collection, the Candela Collection, the Huntsville Museum of Art and the Mobile Museum of Art. Kristin teaches in the Department of Fine Art and Art History at Christopher Newport University in Newport News, Virginia.
