Report on workshop - Enactus 2015
Team ENACTUS of School of Commerce and Management Studies, Jain University in
partnership with Art of Living organized “Skill development and self-dependency workshop
for the women of Kaggalipura”. The Event was organized at Samudaya Bhavan Community
Centre, Kaggalipura on 28 January 2015. With the support of SCMS Centre Head, Dr. Vasu B A,
enthusiastic Enactus team created a skill development and training programme for SHG of
women community at Kaggalipura identified by Ms. Nagmani, Art of living.
The Training was divided into three sessions assisted by Mrs. Nagamani from Art of Living
Session 1: Decoration of Diyas
Session 2: Chocolate making
Session 3: Candle making
Decoration of Diyas session was conducted by BBM students Namrata, Ritu and Natasha. The
session included the detailed explanation along with the demonstration of decorating 3 diyas.
SHG members also decorated few diyas as a result of training process. They showed immense
interest in learning and also spoke about taking this forward as a part of their income sources.
Chocolate making session was the most crowd attracted session. This session was led by Anu,
Shenaz, Saad and Namrata. They explained about the availability of ingredients and quantity
required trailed by demonstration and the steps to be followed. As the SHG members took part in
the training, around 40 chocolates were made.
SBM manager Mrs. Sita Bai visited the venue and gave a motivational speech. She spoke about
Women Empowerment and development of standard of living of women especially in rural areas.
She showed her support by saying “I will lend my support in all means possible for all your
activities”. She also said that further loans can be given if they take it up seriously. When she
tasted the chocolates made by our team she said that it was really very good and in fact the best
one she has tasted so far and expressed her personal interest to learn the skill herself.
Candle making session was conducted by Utkarsh, Lipika, Manasvi, Jayanth and Payal.
Students explained and demonstrated the process of making candles in different shapes and
colours.
Post the training session, Mrs. Smita listed down the members who are interested in taking the
different trainings as a part of their income sources. These members will be tracked by Team
Enactus 2015 which enables the team to measure the impact of skill training programme. The
team Enactus has assured the SHG to support for a period of 1-2 months in selling their products
so that they would be able to identify their own market and create sustainability for their project.
