In Times of Transition
God of Love,
You are with us in every transition and change.
As we enter into this new era with excitement and even some anxiety,
we recall your deep compassion, presence, and abounding love.
We thank you for the gifts, talents and skills with which you have blessed us.
We thank you for the experiences that have brought us to this moment.
We thank you for the work of others that gives breadth and depth to our own work.
Be with us as we move forward, rejoicing with you and supporting one another.
We ask this in your Holy Name.
Amen.
Joseph P. Shadle
Dear Parents
Welcome back to the 2015 school year.
I would like to offer a warm welcome to the new families who are joining the St Peter’s community
for the first time in 2015. Hopefully your journey with us is fulfilling and we are able to work in
partnership with you to provide quality care and development for your child.
To our returning students, I hope your break has enabled you to recharge your batteries ready for all
that 2015 has to offer. St Peter’s offers many opportunities but it is up to you to engage yourself in
the life of the school and make the most of those opportunities.
The whole school community was, I’m sure, surprised at Michael Blake’s secondment to St
Catherine’s Catholic College in Singleton. Michael has accepted the challenge presented to him by
the Director, Mr Ray Collins, as an opportunity to further develop his skills, increase his own
professional development and to support the Singleton community this year until a permanent
replacement for Mr Brian Lacey, former Principal, is appointed. We wish Michael well in this
endeavour.
As the Acting Principal for 2015, I welcome the opportunity to continue the journey we have started
over the past few years in both the Curriculum and Pastoral areas. This year will be a time to
consolidate the new approaches to pedagogy we have trialled, and to continue to expand on the
Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) model as part of our Pastoral Care Policy that we introduced in
2014.
There are several new members of staff at St Peter’s for 2015.
We welcome Mr Bernard Burgess, HSIE; Ms Sandra Kinloch, Maths; Mrs Fleur Dives, CAPA –
Music; Mr David Obradovic, TAS/Maths; Ms Kim Hann, LOTE; Mr Craig Phillips, Learning
Support Teacher; Mrs Mary Foxall, Principal’s Assistant; Mr John Bates,IT Support; Mrs Janette
Flynn, Canteen Supervisor who will job share with Mrs Lesley Bartlett; Mrs Melissa Gray, Food
Technology Assistant; and Mr Ben Crebert, School Counsellor.
Mrs Michelle Burgess, CAPA – Music; Mrs Danielle Brownlee, Science; and Mrs Julieanne
Berman, Science are returning to St Peter’s after maternity leave in 2014.
With the appointment of Michael to Singleton, we also have a number of staff returning to new
positions of responsibility. We particularly welcome Mr Bernard Burgess to the Leadership Team in
his role as Assistant Principal, Pastoral Care.
In other staff news - Mrs Allysha Hodges, CAPA, who joined
us in 2014 has recently given birth to a little girl- Honor Maeon 14th January. We congratulate Allysha and her family on the
arrival of their new daughter.

Communication
If parents need to contact the school, they are asked to ring between the hours of 8am and 4pm
(messages may be left outside this time). The office staff will ask whether the matter is a Curriculum
or Pastoral matter to best direct your enquiry. Generally the first port of call for Curriculum matters
is the classroom teacher. This is usually the most appropriate level of communication to inquire
about progress or clarify classroom instruction. Curriculum matters that require further clarification
and all Pastoral matters will be directed to Mrs Maree Robinson (Pastoral Assistant) or Mrs Joadie
Wright (Curriculum Assistant). They will contact the relevant Studies Coordinator, Student
Coordinator or Assistant Principal to put through the call or make an appointment.
Year 7 Welcome BBQ and Camp Information
A reminder that the Year 7 Welcome BBQ is next Thursday 5th February.
Permission notes are due back by Tuesday 3rd February. Parents are invited
to join us from 5pm for the Liturgy and BBQ.
Camp reminder: Camp notes were sent home this week with students.
Students from Tutor Groups 1-5 will be on camp Monday – Wednesday
16th-18th February and students from Tutor Groups 6-9 will be on camp
Wednesday – Friday 18th-20th February. Notes are due back by 3rd February
and money is due by Wednesday 11 February.
Change of address
A friendly reminder that if you have recently changed your address, phone contact numbers or email
address, please provide your new details to the school office.
From time to time during the year we have situations arise where we need to contact parents. Often
the numbers in our system are out of service or are an old address or business number. The same
situation arises when mail is sent to a previous address and parents are unaware of certain matters.
Health Card Reductions
If you were granted a tuition reduction in 2014, due to the CSO Policy for those holding a current
Health Care Card, and would like to seek this reduction for 2015 tuition fees, please attend the
school office to provide a copy of your current card and complete the required form. Fee Deductions
are not automatically rolled over from year to year as families’ eligibility may change from one year
to the next.
School Photo Day
School Photo Day is Wednesday the 11th of February 2015.
Please take time to carefully read the relevant information on the MSP Photography payment
envelopes which will be sent home in Week 2. Please note that MSP collects all payments on the day
and St Peter’s does not receive any money or cheques relating to school photographs.
Handy hints:
- Enclose the correct cash payment as MSP does not provide change. CHEQUES MUST BE
MADE OUT TO MSP PHOTOGRAPHY. Credit Card payments can be made online (see
student envelope for details),
- Check the envelope has your child’s name spelt correctly and their correct Tutor Group.
Make any corrections using red biro.
- Don’t seal envelopes inside each other. If you have more than one child, you can pay for all
children in one envelope, however each child needs to hand their own envelope to the
photographers on photo day.
- Family envelopes are available at the school library upon request. If you would like your
children to sit for a family photo it is important they listen to the daily notices which will alert
them to the time and place,
- Full formal dress uniform is to be worn (shoes, hair, jewellery and makeup must conform to the
school dress standard).
- Year 10 photographs are priced differently to Years 7-9 as they receive a “Master Year
Package.”
For any enquires please feel free to contact Mrs Mandy Greaves in the Library at St Peter’s or MSP
Photography directly at email: info@msp,com.au , phone 6933 7740 or fax 6921 3686
Once again I wish each of you and your children the best for 2015.
God Bless
Mrs Pamela Kedwell
Acting Principal
