Oncoplastic breast surgery has been in practice since the late 1990s in the western
countries but its use locally has been dismally low. While there may be many reasons
for this, oncoplastic breast surgery in Asian women with excellent cosmetic outcome is
definitely possible under skilled hands. The purpose of this symposium is to promote its
awareness and to impart surgical skills to surgeons who may be keen to perform
oncoplastic breast surgery on Asian women. This meeting will also specifically focus on
the limitations and practicality of oncoplastic breast surgery in Asian women.
This one day event is targeted at breast and plastics surgeons including trainees who
are keen to learn more about oncoplastic breast surgery. The symposium will concentrate
on the various techniques of therapeutic mammoplasty including round block, vertical
mammoplasty and wise pattern etc. The invited speakers, from both the breast and
plastics departments, will share on the indications and contraindications of each
technique as well as a step-by-step demonstration, and a mark up for some techniques.
There will also be a case discussion at the end of the symposium to discuss the
management of challenging cases or complications.
Seats are limited, do register today and don’t miss out on this enriching learning
experience!
Warmest regards,
Dr Lim Geok Hoon
