Proudest House Contest: How It Works (the “Terms”)
By participating in the Proudest House Contest (“Contest”) you agree to these Terms and to be
bound by the decisions of Pottermore Limited (“Pottermore”) whose registered office is at
Devonshire House, 1 Devonshire Street, London W1W 5DR. We recommend that you keep a
copy of these Terms for future reference. These Terms are only available in the English
language.
How to enter the Proudest House Contest
1. The Pottermore Proudest House Contest will take place between 12am EST (5am GMT)
January 30 2015 to 11.59pm EST February 1 2015 (4am GMT February 2) (“Contest
Period”). Contributions submitted outside of this timeframe will not be counted in this
Contest.
2. The Contest is open to users of all ages. If you are under 18 you must check with a parent
or guardian before you enter the Contest that they give you permission to enter and use
social networking sites, and you should review these Terms with them to make sure that
you and your parent or guardian understand them.
3. If you are over 13 years of age, in order to participate you will need to create a post
celebrating your house pride via your Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or Tumblr account,
using, for example, words, pictures, music or video complete with the appropriate house
pride hashtag: #GryffindorPride #SlytherinPride #RavenclawPride #HufflepuffPride.
4. If you are under 13 years of age you can upload artwork onto pottermore.com to share your
housepride. Visit your house founder’s page and upload your picture to the image gallery at
the bottom: Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Salazar Slytherin, Rowena Ravenclaw. See
clause 5 for guidance on submitting content on pottermore.com:
http://www.pottermore.com/en/terms. Users can also simply continue to brew potions and
cast spells to earn points for their house on pottermore.com, but these will not be counted
as part of this Contest.
5. You can make more than one creative submission for your house, but multiple submissions
of the same content will not be counted.
6. Remember you are representing your house so please make sure you do not post
inappropriate content. Contributions must be your own original work, created solely by you
and must not infringe the copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity or other personal or
proprietary rights of any person or entity, or be offensive or in anyway unlawful.
7. For the avoidance of doubt it is not necessary to change your Facebook profile settings to
‘Public’. Your Facebook profile can remain ‘Private’. Just make your hashtagged post
public for us to see it and count it.
8. We may share your celebrations of house pride on the Pottermore Insider, and if we do this
we will keep your username private.
9. By participating in the Contest you acknowledge that the Contest is in no way sponsored,
endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and/or
Tumblr and hereby release Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and/or Tumblr from any and all
liability relating to the Contest.
10. For the avoidance of doubt users can continue to earn points for their Hogwarts house after
the Contest has ended.
The Proudest House Prize
11. One prize of one million points will be awarded to the house that has submitted the highest
number of creative and original contributions, tagged with their dedicated house hashtag.
House points will not be awarded to individuals.
12. Dedicated house pride hashtags will be counted in order to determine the winning house.
Posting your house hashtag alone will not count as a display of house pride, and will not be
counted.
13. We will count all tagged submissions submitted during the Contest Period. We will
announce the victorious house on Thursday, February 5, 2015 by 12 noon EST (5pm
GMT).
14. The decision in respect of the winning house is final and no correspondence will be entered
into regarding the outcome of the Contest.
General
15. We reserve the right to discount any contributions we consider, in our sole discretion, to be
ineligible or unsuitable and we reserve the right to require proof of age and proof of parental
consent to enter. Ineligible contributions include contributions made using ‘bots’ on social
media channels to gain an advantage over other houses and contributions that contain
inappropriate or explicit material.
16. We reserve the right at any time to cancel or modify the Contest if we believe, in our sole
discretion, that the Contest is not capable (or is likely not to be capable) of being conducted
fairly or as specified within these Terms due to events beyond our control (including without
limitation a virus, computer bug, unauthorised human intervention, or any other cause
beyond our reasonable control).
17. We accept no responsibility for any damage, loss, liabilities, injury or disappointment
incurred or suffered by you as a result of entering the Contest. No responsibility shall be
taken for any occurrences resulting from your connection to the internet. We do not accept
responsibility for any damage (whether material or non material) caused to participants, to
their computer equipment, or data which is stored on them. Nothing in these Terms shall
limit our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence or for fraud.
18. We will do our best to resolve any disputes over these Terms. If you wish to take court
proceedings against us you must do so within the United Kingdom. Relevant United
Kingdom law will apply.
19. If any of these Terms are found to be invalid by any court or regulator, the other Terms will
continue to apply.
