QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
Q1. Is it possible to receive a current detailed network diagram of the existing infrastructure? Is it
possible to get the current switching layout for each closet today?
A1.
In Addendum #2 we have provided a diagram of the network and the Request for Bid document
and Addendum#1 has provided the needed port counts for the equipment. At this point no
additional information can be provided.
Q2. Products on the network to confirm product compatibility:
A.) What type of VoIP phones will the school district support?
B.) What types of Access Points exist on the current Infrastructure?
C.) Are there any other hardware devices on the network that we should be made aware
of? (Other than the Apple Bonjour devices, for example third party network based
video recording units, etc.)
A2.
Products on the network to confirm product compatibility:
A) We are unable to answer this question at this time.
B) The District expects all wireless access points to be compatible with the switches to be
procured. In your response please indicate any that are not compatible.
C) There are other devices to the network (e.g. wireless access points, servers, IP cameras,
etc.). We cannot provide a list of definite devices on the network. Suffice it to say that there
would be different device types (e.g. VoIP, Video, etc.) added in the future and the network
designed would need to support it.
Q3. Please define the requirements standard for the SDN specification as per the RFP. (This
request is due to fact that SDN (RFC 7149) is in draft form, and each vendor has their own
interpretation of the draft)
A3. We recognize that vendors may implement their interpretation of the standards. Please describe
your implementation in the response.
Q4. Please clarify under 2.8, section B - “Provide trouble reporting number 24 hours x 7 days”.
A4. The requirement is that the District should be able to call and report troubles and obtain status over
a telephone besides email and other electronic methods.
Q5. For alternative 1 – what does the current configuration of the Cisco 6509 in Eagan High
School consist of? Is it possible to get a copy of the show version and show inventory from the
device?
A5. EHS has a 6509-E with the following cards.
 WS-SUP720-3B - Quantity 1
 WS-X6724-SFP - Quantity 2
 WS-X6748-GE-TX - Quantity 4
The District is unable to provide any additional information.
Q6. Please provide specific part numbers for each of the items listed in Appendix B, as that
information is required in order to provide an exact dollar amount of the credit that can be
provided for this equipment.
A6. See Item 1 in Modifications and Clarifications section on page 1.
Q7. Please offer further calcification on the MER portion of the WAN ring in the aggregation
switches?
A7. The Main Equipment Room (MER) is for the most part the wiring closet where wide area network
equipment resides. The three hub locations are configured in a ring topology. Network equipment
in the MER’s of most remote sites are connected to two of the three hub sites.
Q8. What kind of time frame will the network upgrade need to be completed?
A8. The District’s plan is to work with the vendor to develop a schedule. The intent is to start work
during the summer months and minimize service interruption. Weekend and off hours may be
needed.
Q9. Can the IP addressing scheme be re-used or will a new IP addressing scheme be
implemented?
A9. The intent is to reuse the existing IP address scheme.
Q10 Because our company is under 40 employees we haven’t had to go through the formal
affirmative action process. Is it ok that I simply have a statement drafted and signed stating
this or is there a formal waiver that you can provide that we can sign?
A10. If your company is not required to comply per law, please indicate this exception and provide any
documentation supporting it.
