Families received information regarding registration for the
2015-2016 school. Please be sure to read over everything
carefully and return the completed form immediately to
ensure proper registration for the next school year. This is

FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Speechless
Well, what can I say, I was completely caught off guard by that incredible surprise last Friday. I had my head bowed in
prayer, oblivious to my surroundings (I really need to pay better attention), and here comes the mayor… I am not one
for long speeches, but that one left me completely speechless. I am extremely flattered and grateful for the recognition
and all of the effort that went into making that surprise happen. Somehow it doesn’t seem right to be rewarded for
doing something that you love to do, working with people you love to work with. The mayor said in giving me the
recognition that there is such a positive buzz around town about St. Joe’s. That is great to hear. If I, as principal, have
contributed in some small way to that positive buzz, I happily and proudly accept that recognition. But I know there is a
whole community here that has played, and continues to play, a major role creating and maintaining that buzz. When
we warmly welcome new families; when we greet one another with smiles and handshakes; when we go out of our way
to make sure no one is excluded or left standing alone, ever; when we resolve our conflicts and differences with kindness, caring, and understanding; when we resist the temptation to gossip; we contribute to the positive buzz that says,
“That St. Joe’s is a great community.” It is a great community, and I am delighted to be part of it. When January 30 rolls
around again, let’s celebrate “community spirit day” and keep the buzz going.
IOWA Testing Information
During the weeks of March 9, March 16 and March 23 students in grades 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 & 7 will be taking the IOWA and
Cognitive Tests. The results of these tests are very important for our school in several areas. Testing will take place
Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 on Thursdays. There will be make
up testing on Fridays.
During this time we are asking parents to ensure students are getting plenty of rest at night and please, make sure students receive a good breakfast. Students should arrive to school on time, and we are asking parents to keep students
home from school only if they have a fever or are vomiting. If you have any appointments scheduled during the
school day in this time period, we are asking if parents can reschedule and attend appointments only if absolutely necessary. If it is definitely necessary for students to miss school, they will be required to make up all testing.
Please contact the office with any questions regarding this information.
Ash Wednesday Services
On Wednesday 2/18/15 St. Joseph School will celebrate 8:00 a.m. Mass with Fr. Bill Dorrmann and the students will
receive ashes. The students will not attend Mass on Thursday. Due to the switch in schedule we are flip flopping
Wednesday for Thursday. So on Wednesday 2/18/15 we will follow a Thursday schedule so grade 5, 6, 7 & 8 will have
Art and K, 1, 2 & 3 will have Library. On Thursday 2/19/15 we will follow the Wednesday schedule and all grades will
have gym class.
