Pioneer Discovery Camps
at the Elkhorn Valley Museum
March 13th – 9am-Noon - Eating History Mini-Camp
Ages 9-12, $20/child, $15/member
During this 3 hour mini-camp, campers will travel through time to
experience making and eating food from different eras in the past.
We will visit the Civil War, Nebraska Pioneers, World War II and
more as we cook, bake, and mix up a variety of side dishes, drinks,
and desserts. History is delicious and fun!
April 2nd – 9am-Noon - Pioneers in the Spring Mini-Camp
Ages 9-12, $20/child, $15/member
Spring is here! Each season brought new activities and chores for
Nebraska pioneers. Experience what kinds of chores pioneer children
would have had to do, plant in the garden, and make butter and
biscuits. But pioneer children’s lives weren’t all work, campers will
also learn old-time games and enjoy a snack of home-made butter
and biscuits.
April 3rd – 9am-Noon - Eating History Jr. Mini-Camp
Ages 5-8, $20/child, $15/member
Bring history to life through food during this 3-hour mini-camp. We will read exciting history
stories, then churn, bake, cook, and taste the food described in them! Campers will also enjoy
old-time games.
June 22nd – June 26th 9am-3pm – Pioneer Discovery Camp
Ages 9-12. $165/$145 members
What was it like to be a pioneer in Nebraska? This camp is perfect for older children, ages 9-12,
with a special interest in history. Immerse yourself in the world of history as we uncover the
local history of Northeastern Nebraska. Campers will explore what life was like in early
Nebraska including food, clothing, games, and more.
Camp Meets Monday through Friday, 9am-3pm.
July 20th – July 24th 9am-Noon – Jr. Pioneer Discovery Camp
Ages 5-8 $85/$70 members
This history camp is specially designed for younger “historians,” ages 5-8.Through games,
songs, stories, and crafts, we will explore what life was like for the Nebraska’s early pioneers.
Camp meets Monday through Friday, 9am-Noon.
