When will you announce the winner of the 2015 competition?
The top three winners will be announced at a special prize-giving ceremony in Edinburgh
at the end of May 2015. The winning schools will be notified in advance.
All schools will be notified of the outcome in May 2015.

What teaching resources are available and where can I find them?
Lesson plans linked to the Curriculum for Excellence are in place to assist teachers with
the competition brief. Teaching resources are available to download online at
edfringe.com/poster.
What is the deadline for entering the competition?
Posters must reach the Fringe Society by 17:00 on Friday 06 March 2015.
What are the dates for the exhibition?
All schools will be notified of exhibition dates in May 2015.
Terms and conditions
The competition is only open to pupils aged 5 –16 (at the time of entering) from schools in Scotland.
Entries must be received by 17:00, Friday 06 March 2015. Late entries will not be accepted.
Only posters that win a place in the exhibition will be retained. We cannot return or offer for collection any
other entries. Posters featured in the exhibition can be collected between 07 September and 05 October
2015 from the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society office, 180 High Street. Unfortunately, any posters that
have not been collected by 17:00 on 05 October 2015 cannot be kept.
Entrants in the Fringe Schools Poster Competition 2015 shall assign to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe
Society, in perpetuity, all copyright of their artwork.
The Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society reserves the right to use part of, or the entire image of, the
artwork submitted to the Fringe Schools Poster Competition 2015 on any Fringe merchandise or
promotional material.
Submissions that do not meet the deadline or entry specifications will not be considered.
The schools that have shortlisted posters (including the winner, runners-up and regional winners)
will be notified in May 2015 by post.
Are posters returned to schools?
Due to the large volume of entries to the competition only posters that win a place in the
exhibition will be retained. We cannot offer returns or collection for any other entries.
How do I find out about next year’s competition?
Competition entry packs are posted to every school in Scotland each year. If you would

The Schools Poster Competition
The Fringe Schools Poster Competition, supported by Virgin Money, introduces a new
generation to the vibrant, colourful and creative world of the Fringe.
Now in its 35th year, it is one of the longest-running arts outreach projects in Scotland.
The competition offers the opportunity for schoolchildren to play an active role in the
world’s largest arts festival, with the winning design becoming the year’s official poster for
the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

What your students could win
The winning design will become the official poster for the 2015 Edinburgh Festival Fringe
and will also be used for a range of merchandise. The top three pupils win a cash prize
for themselves and their schools, as well as six tickets each to the Virgin Money Fireworks
Concert in Edinburgh at the end of the festival.

Exhibition
The top three designs alongside 14 regional winners and shortlisted posters from across
Scotland will be on display at a special exhibition in the centre of Edinburgh throughout
the summer.
The poster design
Posters must be A3 size.
Posters must be portrait layout.
Entries must be the pupils’
original artwork.
Use any media or materials to
create the posters, but final entries
must be two-dimensional.
Do not include the words
‘Edinburgh Festival Fringe’,

to support participation in the competition, but are also a great way to introduce your
