«They should pray continually and not lose heart»
Today, Jesus reminds us that «we should pray continually and not lose heart» (Lk 18:1). He teaches
with his deeds and with his words. St. Luke appears before us as the evangelist of Jesus’ prayers. Quite so! In
some of the scenes, where the authors inspired in the Holy Scriptures depict Jesus’ life, only Luke presents him
in the act of praying.
He does so during Jesus’ Baptism in the river Jordan, when choosing the Twelve and at the Transfiguration
and when a disciple asks him «Lord, teach us to pray» (Lk 11:1), from his lips comes out the Lord’s Prayer. We
see this also, when He announces his negations to Peter: «I have prayed that your own faith may not fail» (Lk
22:32); at the crucifixion: «Then Jesus said, ‘Father, forgive them, they know not what they do’». (Lk 23:34);
when He dies on the Cross: «Father, into your hands I commit my spirit» (Lk 23:46). After the description of
all evangelists, the same Lord is a model of the petition prayer, especially at the Gethsemane garden.
—I could point out how we can raise our hearts towards God while involved in different activities because it is not the same at intellectual work as at manual labor; to be in a church or to be in the sports field or at
home; to drive in the city or on a turnpike. Our petition prayer, our gratitude; adoration and pleas for forgiveness may come early in the morning rather than late after a whole day’s work. St. Josemaría Escrivá gives us
a recipe for the petition prayer: «He who gets more is he who pesters closer... Therefore, draw closer to God:
try hard to be a saint».
The Virgin Mary is a model of prayer, also of petition prayer. At Cana of Galilee she was able to advance

“JUNTOS CONSTRUYENDO EL REINO DE DIOS”
«Es preciso orar siempre sin desfallecer»
Hoy, Jesús nos recuerda que «es preciso orar siempre sin desfallecer» (Lc 18,1). Enseña con sus obras y
con las palabras. San Lucas se nos presenta como el evangelista de la oración de Jesús. Efectivamente, en algunas
de las escenas de la vida del Señor, que los autores inspirados de la Escritura Santa nos transmiten, es únicamente
Lucas quien nos lo muestra rezando.
En el Bautismo en el Jordán, en la elección de los Doce y en la Transfiguración. Cuando un discípulo le
pidió «Señor, enséñanos a orar» (Lc 11,1), de sus labios salió el Padrenuestro. Cuando anuncia las negaciones
a Pedro: «Yo he rogado por ti, para que tu fe no desfallezca» (Lc 22,32). En la crucifixión: «Padre, perdónales,
porque no saben lo que hacen» (Lc 23,34). Cuando muere en la Cruz: «Padre, en tus manos pongo mi espíritu», del
Salmo 31. El Señor mismo es modelo de la oración de petición, especialmente en Getsemaní, según la descripción
de todos los evangelistas.
—Puedo ir concretando cómo elevaré el corazón a Dios en las distintas actividades, porque no es lo mismo
hacer un trabajo intelectual que manual; estar en la iglesia que en el campo de deportes o en casa; conducir por
la ciudad que por la autopista; no es lo mismo la oración de petición que el agradecimiento; o la adoración que
pedir perdón; de buena mañana que cuando llevamos todo el cansancio del día. San Josemaría Escrivá nos da una
receta para la oración de petición: «Más consigue aquel que importuna más de cerca... Por tanto, acércate a Dios:
esfuérzate por ser santo».
Santa María es modelo de oración, también de petición. En Caná de Galilea es capaz de avanzar la hora
de Jesús, la hora de los milagros, con su petición, llena de amor por aquellos esposos y llena de confianza en su

ADORACION. La adoración del Santísimo en la capilla de San Miguel

el Domingo Mundial de las Misiones, la Sociedad para la Propagación de
la Fe, una Obra Misionera Pontificia. Gracias.
LA DEVOCION A LA DIVINA MISERICORDIA será el próximo
domingo 23 de octubre a las 3:00 p.m. Habrá una pequeña meditación, y
confesiones durante el rezo de la coronilla, finalizará a las 4:00 p.m. con la
bendición del Santísimo. Todos están invitados.
LA ASOCIACIONDE ANTIGUOS ALUMNOS DE SAN PATRICIO invita
a todos a su evento de recaudación de fondos del 2016 “Cambiando Vidas
a Través de la Música Gospel”. Un festival de música donde abrá el mejor
entretenimiento de música gospel de las I.V. el domingo 20 de de noviembre de 2016, de 3:00 a 6:00 de la tarde en el Auditorio de la escuela de
