100TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE NAMING OF HOLY ROSARY CHURCH AS CATHEDRAL
This past week we marked a very special milestone here at the Cathedral; it’s been a hundred years
since this church building was named the Cathedral of the Archdiocese of Vancouver.
The Archbishop would like to share a message to mark this occasion.

5TH ANNUAL ARCHBISHOP’S DINNER
October 27, 2016 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel.
Theme: Year of Mercy, serve the poor through
shelter programs and services. Tickets: $150 per

ANNUAL MASS FOR THE DECEASED CLERGY
On Thursday Nov. 3 at 12:10 PM. All parishioners
are welcome to attend this special liturgy
celebrated by the priests of the Archdiocese.
SEMINARY LIVE-IN WEEKEND
On the weekend of November 4 - 6, there will be a
Vocation Live-In for boys or young men interested
in the priesthood or the consecrated life at the
Seminary of Christ the King, Mission, BC. For more

WELCOME FR. PETER TO HOLY ROSARY CATHEDRAL!
This week we welcomed a new Assistant Pastor to
the Cathedral, Fr. Peter Ha. Fr. Peter was ordained
in June 22, 2004 and has been Assistant Pastor at
St. Bernadette, St. Mathew, Corpus Christi and Holy
Trinity parishes as well as a visiting professor of
the seminary in Vietnam.

VENERATION OF RELICS ON ALL SAINTS DAY
On Tuesday November 1 after the 12:10 Mass we
invite everyone to join us for a 30 minute
veneration of relics of various Saints.
MASS OF REMEMBRANCE
Join us for Mass on Sunday, Oct. 30, at 2:30 PM at
Gardens of Gethsemani, Surrey for Mass of
Remembrance for those family members who have
passed away during this past month and are buried
at Gardens of Gethsemani. Info: rccav.org/events
NOVEMBER 2ND ALL SOULS DAY
There will be an extra Mass on Nov. 2 at 7 PM to
commemorate the faithful departed. The Mass will
be celebrated in the Extraordinary Form (Latin
Mass). All other Masses on that day will follow the
regular weekly schedule.
LECTOR’S WORKSHOP ON OCT 19, 7 - 8:30 PM
If you are a regular at Holy Rosary, have a clear
speaking voice, and have a love for Scripture, we
invite you to sign up as a Lector at Holy Rosary
Cathedral. Attendance at the workshop is
compulsory. Application forms are available at the
church entrance.

interesado. El modelo supremo de la oración
cristiana es el mismo Jesús; primero adorar al
Padre en espíritu y verdad, modelo supremo que

FESTIVIDAD IMPORTANTE
El martes 11 de Octubre se celebra la festividad de
el gran Papa San Juan XXIII, uno de los Santos que
más amo y admiro. Aún guardo en mi memoria el
presenciar la celebración Eucarística en Latín. Me
maravilla el alcance de un humilde campesino
Italiano, quien en su infancia careció incluso de
zapatos pero que el Todopoderoso lo envió para
comenzar el Concilio Vaticano Segundo en 1962,
que fue un gran tiempo de renovación para la
iglesia universal. San Juan XXXIII, ¡Ruega por
nosotros!
WOMEN’S CHOIR
The Women's Choir is looking for sopranos and
altos to join for October. We sing at the 9:30 AM
Mass and rehearse on Wednesday evenings. A
choir background or musical experience is
required. We sing everything from Gregorian Chant

de la Catedral de Ntra. Sra. del Santo Rosario para
leer la Biblia y conocer mejor la Palabra de Dios. La
cita es de 3:00 a 4:15 PM y esta abierta a todos. Si no
tienes Biblia no te preocupes pues contamos con
varias para facilitarle la lectura a todos. Próxima

BAPTISMS

second Saturday of each month. Please call the

EXTRAORDINARY MINISTERS OF HOLY COMMUNION
If you are a regular at the parish and live by the
principles of a faith-filled Catholic, this ministry may be
your calling. Lay members help with the distribution of
the Eucharist when additional help is required. Please

MARRIAGES
Bookings should be made at least six months in
advance. Couples please contact the Cathedral office
for information.
HRC YOUNG ADULTS
HRC Young Adults is the Cathedral’s young adult group.
We welcome Catholics in their 20’s – 30’s to join us as we
cultivate our faith and create friendships through
fellowship as well as educational and service
opportunities.
ALTAR SERVERS
The Cathedral has a team of dedicated servers who are
scheduled to help at specific Masses. Help is needed at

LECTORS
The sacramental celebration of the Word of God is a
proclamation which must enlighten the minds of the
listeners and inspire them in the journey towards God.
New lectors welcome. Attendance at a Lector’s

CATHEDRAL BELL RINGERS
A skilled and dedicated team of bell ringers rings our
eight bells by hand. New ringers, experienced or not,
are welcome always. Practices are held on Tuesdays at

CATHEDRAL GIFT SHOP
The Gift Shop aims to be open before and after the
noon, and evening weekday Masses, Sunday morning
and evening Masses, & is staffed by a crew of dedicated
ladies. Thank you for your support.
HANDMAIDS OF THE LORD
This is an all-women ministry of the Couples for Christ.
It aims to provide Christian pastoral support for

CATHOLIC WOMEN’S LEAGUE
The Catholic Women's League of Canada is a national
organization, rooted in Gospel values, which calls its
members to holiness through service to the people of
God. We organize a wide variety of spiritual and social

LEGION OF MARY
The men & women of the Legion are a well-established
organization in the parish. They serve in all areas of
parish life as greeters, ushers and prayer leaders. They
also make house visits to visit the sick, pray the rosary

CHURCH CARE & CLEANING
The sanctuary is given a thorough cleaning every Tuesday
morning, 9 - 11 AM, and on the last Saturday of each month.
