Thanksgiving Day Bilingual Mass

We invite you to celebrate with us in our
Thanksgiving Day Mass
Everyone is invited to bring a food item from their
Thanksgiving table. Father will bless these items during the liturgy. You are asked to take them home after Mass.
NEW CARPET
We have new carpet now. Thank you for the donations we have
received so far from four parishioners. We still in need of more
donations. In order to keep it in good condition, please do not bring
food or drinks into the church and NO GUM, PLEASE.
YOUTH MASS
We welcome the Confirmation youth and their parents at the 5:00 pm
Mass this Sunday. Youth will be involved in the liturgy and we will
have special music for youth.
CHILDREN’S MASS
We welcome the CCD children and their parents at the 11:00 am
English Mass every first Sunday of the month.

CATHOLIC STEWARDSHIP and Thanksgiving Day
Thanksgiving Day, in Canada and the
United States, is a special North American feast. Although it is not a feast on
the Catholic liturgical calendar, many
parishes celebrate the Eucharist with
the Mass of Thanksgiving. Some will
have a basket of fruit and grain, or a
cornucopia, adorning the foot of the altar. Thanksgiving Day truly holds a
spiritual significance for the Chris an steward. It is a day that makes us take
no ce of the fundamentals of stewardship and the importance of having a
grateful heart.
Thanksgiving is a day that gives us an opportunity to show our gra tude,
provide hospitality and celebrate with loved ones. For the Chris an steward,
the holiday is rooted deeply in the biblical belief that the world was created
by a loving God as a gi for each of us. From the two crea on accounts in the
Book of Genesis we understand that this gi of crea on is intended to be
received by us in thanksgiving and held in stewardship. As a ma er of fact,
this principle is one of the star ng points for a truly Catholic worldview; that
all crea on is good and that the response to this gi can only be that of awe
and a feeling of such gra tude that we would want to share this gi .
Stewardship in the Catholic tradi on affirms that into this crea on, God
sent Jesus the Christ to live among us and teach us the ways of God, and that
our stewardship of the world includes cul va ng it and building it into an
even be er and more grace-filled world; a world that reveals the light of
Christ and is returned to his Father with increase.
Stewards strive to embrace a life of gra tude; a life that reminds them of
the rela ve abundance they enjoy. It is an abundance unavailable to most of
the earth’s inhabitants. Most of us have much more than we really need, and
the spirit of gra tude should impel us to share this rela ve abundance with
those who are less fortunate.
As Thanksgiving Day approaches, let us take stock of the many wonderful
blessings we enjoy. Let’s be sure to take me to thank God in prayer for our
abundance; avoid the sin of an ungrateful heart; and consider how we might
be even be er stewards of the gi s God has entrusted to us.

Thank you to everyone who supported the fundraising Banquet for the Guadalupe Pregnancy Outreach last Thursday. Our dedicated volunteers
worked hard to put together an awesome evening with beautiful decorations
and delicious food. In addition, the volunteer servers from the youth groups
at St. Patrick’s and Our Lady of Refuge were phenomenal! There was a lot
of enthusiasm and excitement for the work before us. The Guadalupe Pregnancy Outreach was truly blessed. Again, thank you.

Como ya es tradición, este día usted podrá traer un
platillo de su Mesa, el cual será bendecido por el
sacerdote. Favor de llevárselo de nuevo a casa
después de la bendición.
La Corresponsabilidad y el Día de Acción de Gracias
El Día de Acción de Gracias, tanto en Canadá como en Estados Unidos, es una
fiesta especial Norteamericana. Aunque no es una fiesta en el calendario litúrgico
católico, numerosas parroquias celebran la Eucaris a con la Misa de Acción de
Gracias. Algunas de ellas tendrán una canasta de frutas y semillas, o cuerno de la
abundancia, adornando el pie del altar. El Día de Acción de Gracias man ene
verdaderamente un significado espiritual para el cris ano corresponsable. Es un
día que nos hace prestar atención a los fundamentos de la corresponsabilidad y a
la importancia de tener un corazón agradecido.
El Día de Acción de Gracias es un día que nos da una oportunidad para mostrar nuestra gra tud, proveer hospitalidad y celebrar con nuestros seres amados.
Para el corresponsable cris ano, el día fes vo está arraigado profundamente en
la creencia bíblica de que el mundo fue creado por un Dios amoroso como un
don para cada uno de nosotros. Por las dos narraciones de la creación en el Libro
del Génesis, nosotros sabemos que este don de la creación está des nado a ser
recibido por nosotros en acción de gracias y mantenido en corresponsabilidad. En
realidad, este principio es uno de los puntos iniciales para una verdadera visión
católica del mundo, de que toda la creación es buena y que la respuesta a este
don solamente pueda ser de admiración y sen miento de gra tud que nos
impulse al deseo de compar r este don.
La corresponsabilidad en la tradición católica afirma que dentro de esta
creación, Dios envió a Jesucristo para vivir entre nosotros y enseñarnos los
caminos de Dios, y mostrarnos que nuestra corresponsabilidad del mundo incluye cul varlo y construirlo en un mundo mejor y más lleno de gracia; un mundo
que revele la luz de Cristo y sea devuelto a Su Padre con aumento.
Los corresponsables se esfuerzan por abrazar una vida de gra tud; una vida
que les recuerde la abundancia rela va que ellos disfrutan. Es una
abundancia que no está disponible para la mayoría de los habitantes de la erra.
La mayoría de nosotros tenemos mucho más de lo que en realidad
necesitamos, y el espíritu de gra tud debe impulsarnos a compar r esta
rela va abundancia con aquellos menos afortunados.
Al acercarse el Día de Acción de Gracias, hagamos un balance de las
maravillosas e incontables bendiciones que nosotros disfrutamos.
Asegurémonos de darnos empo para agradecer a Dios en oración por
nuestra abundancia; evitemos el pecado de un corazón desagradecido; y
consideremos cómo podríamos ser aún mejores corresponsables de los
dones que Dios nos ha confiado.
