Fast & Abstinence
Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are obligatory days of
fasting and abstinence for Catholics. In addition, Fridays
during Lent are obligatory days of abstinence.
For members of the Latin Catholic Church, the norms on
fasting are obligatory from age 18 until age 59. When fasting,
a person is permitted to eat one full meal. Two smaller meals
may also be taken, but not equal a full meal. The norms
concerning abstinence from meat are binding upon members
of the Latin Catholic Church from age 14 onward. For more

TODAY’S READINGS
FIRST READING — The leper will dwell apart, making
an abode outside the camp (Leviticus 13:1-2, 44-46).
PSALM — I turn to you, Lord, in time of trouble, and
you fill me with the joy of salvation (Psalm 32).
SECOND READING — Do everything for the glory of
God; be imitators of Christ
(1 Corinthians 10:31 — 11:1).
GOSPEL — The leprosy left him immediately, and he

LECTURAS DE HOY
PRIMERA LECTURA — El leproso habitará solo, fuera
del campamento (Levítico 13:1-2, 44-46).
SALMO — Perdona, Señor, nuestros pecados
(Salmo 32 [31]).
SEGUNDA LECTURA — Haz todo por la gloria de Dios;
sean imitadores de Cristo (1 Corintios 10:31 — 11:1).
EVANGELIO — Jesús, después de haber curado a un
hombre leproso, le pide que no se lo cuente a nadie
(Marcos 1:40-45).
"This is why the (Church) Fathers felt they had a solemn
duty to warn the faithful that, in reflecting upon this most
sacred Sacrament, they should not pay attention to the
senses, which report only the properties of bread and wine,
but rather to the words of Christ, which have power great
enough to change, transform, "transelementize" the bread
and wine into His body and blood. As a matter of fact, as
the same Fathers point out on more than one occasion, the
power that does this is the same power of Almighty God
that created the whole universe out of nothing at the
beginning of time.
…..We beseech you to foster devotion to the Eucharist,
which should be the focal point and goal of all other forms
of devotion."
Pope Paul VI- Mysterium Fidei – September 3, 1965

St. Anne Church and School have found a dynamic
way to vividly spread our most up-to-date news to
current families, as well as, capture the attention of
the overall community! Whether the information
is important parish news or the school’s latest and
greatest updates, we will be empowered to better
communicate to all in the form of an electronic sign
that will replace our current traditional marquee
sign.
An ELECTRONIC SIGN has been proven time and
time again as a successful outreach tool for
existing families and potential visitors. We have
begun the process by interviewing possible vendors
from which to purchase this sign.
St. Anne is seeking support by way of donations
from our loving families to help bring this
communication platform to our community.
Please join us in making this dream a reality.
Donations can be made through your company or
on an individual basis. Remember, it is a tax
deduction on your part, as well as, a huge benefit
for your church and school. We have witnessed
other neighboring parishes who have added these
signs and the response have been overwhelming
and positive!
Please contact Daisy O’Halloran in the church
office at 281-351-8106 Ext. 154
or [email protected] for more
information so we can add you or your company to
our list of charitable sponsors who are on board,
ready and willing to help us outreach to all…our
mission for others to witness us as we are…a
loving, inviting community!
This Week & Upcoming Events

Dear St. Anne Parishioners,
Praying that you all had a good week this past week. Our
Biblical Walk through the Mass workshop is going great and
I am excited that we can bring this workshop to St. Anne.
With this said, I hope to bring other workshops to St. Anne,
all I need is time to research the various type of themes that I
feel will be beneficial to you our Parishioners! If you have an
idea that you would like us to bring here please don’t
hesitate to let me know!
We are still taking registrations for Adult Confirmation. If
you are over 17 years of age and have not yet been
confirmed please contact the Parish Office and ask for me.
We will begin classes with a Mass and day of Reflection on
Saturday March 7, 2015 at 8:30am then on to the Juan Diego
Room (Room 9) above the Gym to continue with our Day of
Reflection. Our classes will begin promptly on Tuesday
March 10, from 7pm-9pm in the Juan Diego Room. We will
meet every Tuesday at the same time until May 19, except
the week of Holy Week March 24. Confirmations will take
place on Sunday May 24, 2015 (Time/Place TBA)
Today is the Sixth Sunday of Ordinary time. Our first reading
from Leviticus talks about The Lord speaking to Moses and
Aaron about those that had sores or blotches on their skin
this meant they had leprosy. These people were pronounced
unclean and to be taken to Aaron or to one of the priests.
In today’s Gospel a leper comes to Jesus and begged Jesus
that if he wishes he can make him clean. Jesus moved by pity
replies that he does wish him made clean. However he also
tells the man to go and do as in the time of Moses and go to
the priest and make himself clean but to tell no one. Lepers
in the time of Moses and Jesus were ostracized from society.
Because illness was rendered as punishment for sins, any
type of illness or physical deformity rendered a person
unclean, and unable to participate in the community and
were exiled from worshiping with the community. As we
reflect in today’s readings can we think of a time when we
have seen someone that is handicapped or perhaps
disfigured, do we stare at them, thereby perhaps making
them feel uncomfortable, or do we see the face of Christ and
reach out to them in love???
As we begin a new week let us ask ourselves, “How do I see
each person I encounter? Do I reach out to the stranger, the
elderly, those that are physically handicapped? Do I reach
out with Christ’s love?”
St. Anne, pray for us
May you have a blessed week!

Music Ministry
A Wonderful Choir
By Connie Campbell Bratcher
(Feb. 2001)
The message of a choir singing out in joyful worship and praise, Is a glorious anchor for our souls in the
stormy, turbulent days. God’s precious truths shared in song reach deep within the soul, stirring the heart to
follow Christ more closely in the fold. Thank God for a wonderful choir that lifts its voice in praise, singing
the message that keeps us strong through all life’s stormy days.
Would you like to touch a soul through the gift of sacred music? Call Loralee Culbert at 281-351-8106 ext.

The sick and hospitalized are to be held in thought and prayer. For their
family, friends, and faith community, it is often times the only way we
can help and support them.
Please remember names for the sick list in the bulletin have to be called
in to the Parish Office by the person who is ill or by a member of their
family. At the time they call in the name, they will be asked whether
they are the sick person him/herself, or a member of their family and if
they give permission for the name to be placed on the list. They will be
asked for the correct spelling of the sick person’s name. If a family
member, they will be required to give their name for our records. The
name will be in the bulletin for four weeks.
