Durante el tiempo de Cuaresma—No Aleluya. No
Gloria.

LISTEN AND FOLLOW
“This is my beloved Son. Listen to him.” And listen
they did. From that moment on, Peter, James, and John
were ardent followers, forsaking everything to follow in
their Master’s footsteps. Like the psalmist crying, “O
Lord, I am your servant,” the three disciples committed
themselves to lives of incredible hardship and indescribable joy. After that day on the mountain, they never again
wavered in their chosen vocation.
Though our tests may not be as severe as Abraham’s
and our peak experiences not as dramatic as the Transfiguration, we all face the daily challenges of walking
“before the Lord in the land of the living.” As we follow
our varied calls to love and serve, let’s be comforted by
Paul’s reminder to the Romans: “If God is for us, who can

be against us?”
Feb. 28-March 1, 2015 - Today’s gospel tells of the Transfiguration of Christ; make the time to renew and transform
your relationship. The next Worldwide Marriage Encounter Weekend is Apr. 10-12, 2015. Dates fill fast. To apply, visit

SECOND SUNDAY OF LENT
Dear St Francis Family,
We reflect this weekend the Transfiguration of Jesus
( Mk 9:2-12) before Peter, James and John. These disciples
were privileged to witness and experience the Divine reality
of Jesus on top of the mountain where He transfigured before them. It was a magnificent and remarkable experience
for these disciples that Peter ended up saying, "Lord it is
good for us to be here!" (Mk 9:5)
According to a story I read , One day a man feeling
tired and disheartened by life's countless trials and hardships , prayed and complained to God, "Lord why do I have
so many mountains and hills to climb in life, he asked. God
answered "For you to have a better view, my son."
Yes, at times we are so focus on the level of the world
that we find out our life full of anxieties, worries, disappointments and miseries. We all need "Transfiguration moments,"
moments when we are assured of God's abiding presence
and power as we journey through life. Human and weak as
we are, we forget, we doubt and we fall.
The memory of God's presence and unfailing care and
love will carry us through the valley of tears and deserts of
dryness and meaningless life. Once God touched our lives,
He will touch us again and again. Let us continue to be open
to the stirrings of the Holy Spirit at work in the most simple
and ordinary events of our lives. Like St Augustine after embracing a life of grace with God said" my heart is restless O
God until it finally rests in you. Amen.
Fr Manny S.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Querida familia de San Francisco:
Reflexionamos este fin de semana la Transfiguración
de Jesús, (Mc 9:2-12), ante Pedro, Santiago y Juan. Estos
discípulos tuvieron el privilegio de ser testigos y de experimentar la realidad divina de Jesús en la cima de la montaña
donde Él se transfiguró delante de ellos. Fue una experiencia magnifica y notable para estos discípulos, que Pedro
terminó diciendo, "¡Señor que bueno es que estemos
aquí!" (Mc 9:5)
De acuerdo con una historia que leí, un día un hombre
se sentía cansado y descorazonado por innumerables pruebas y dificultades de la vida, oró y se quejó con Dios, " Señor, ¿por qué tengo tantas montañas y colinas para subir en
la vida?, Se preguntó. Dios respondió: "Para que tengas
una mejor vista, hijo mío."
Sí, a veces estamos tan centrados en el nivel del mundo que nos encontramos con nuestra vida llena de ansiedades, preocupaciones, decepciones y miserias. Todos necesitamos "momentos de trasfiguración", aquellos momentos
cuando estamos seguros de la presencia permanente de
Dios y su poder en nuestro viaje por la vida. Humanos y
débiles como somos, se nos olvida, dudamos y nos caemos.
La memoria de la presencia de Dios, su cuidado constante y su amor nos sostendrá en el valle de lágrimas, en los
desiertos de sequedad y la vida sin sentido. Una vez que
Dios toca nuestras vidas, Él lo hará una y otra vez. Continuemos abiertos a los impulsos del Espíritu Santo en el trabajo de los eventos más simples y ordinarios de nuestras
vidas. Como dijo San Agustín despues de adoptar una vida
de gracia con Dios: "Mi corazón esta inquieto, hasta que
descansa en Ti, Señor." Amén.
Padre Manny S.
