Who needs you?
Kindergarteners and First Graders, that’s
who! We need more volunteers to help in the lunchroom. It only takes
about an hour a day, from 10:50 to 12:00. Any grade level parent can
help. Also grandparents, aunts and uncles. Just send me and email or
call. I will send you the link and more details. You must fill out a
volunteer application through PISD. Even one time helps! Please
contact me at [email protected] OR 972-814-2739

Each day has a color assigned to it
Eating fruits and vegetables colored orange on Monday, green or blue on Tuesday, yellow on
Wednesday, red or purple on Thursday, and any color on Friday= 2 points
Eating any fruit or veggie on all days= 1 point
Fruits or veggies may be eaten at lunch time. It can be cafeteria food, or food from home.
Serving sizes start at ¼ cup.
You can eat a maximum two servings of the same fruit or vegetable for points.
Players have to finish their serving to earn a point*.
Only fresh fruits or veggies count for this game. It should have grown on a plant.
The classroom to get the most points per student after the week gets a Fruit and ice-cream
Rainbow party! **
Parent volunteers will pass out Whale Dones for each point earned during lunch. Teachers
will help collect them in their class room bags each day.
*Points will be given out as Whale Dones to be collected in each teacher’s bag after each lunch hour. Teachers will
save the bags during the week.
Results: 5th grade math class will help us count and chart the results per classroom. The class with the most points
PER STUDENT will be announced on Friday afternoon.
** Winning class will have the most points averaged per student (not necessarily the most total points). This will
give equal winning opportunity to smaller class size than larger class sizes.
Ideas of fruits and veggies to pack from home:
Orange: oranges, tangerine, orange bell pepper, carrots, sweet potatoes, cantaloupe
Green: broccoli, green beans, green grapes, bell peppers, peas, cucumber, spinach, kale
Blue: blueberries, blackberries
Yellow: banana, yellow bell peppers, pineapple, squash, corn, mango
Red: tomatoes, strawberries, red bell peppers, cherries, cranberries, goji berries
Purple: grapes, eggplant
Eat the Rainbow Challenge in schools has resulted in 75% of the kids eating more than 3 fruits
and veggies at lunch. 75% of the kids also tried 1-2 new produce items. Let the healthiest class
win! We need volunteers to give out points during lunch. If you can help, please contact
Lucia Weber at [email protected]

Don’t miss the first ever Saigling Elementary
Family Valentine’s Dance
♥ Thursday, February 5th from 6:30pm – 8:30pm
in the Saigling Elementary cafeteria♥
♥ $10 per person or $50 maximum family household;
Ticket includes: Includes family-friendly food,
cupcakes & treats, non-alcoholic beverages, DJ,
dancing & games, door prizes, and one family photo per family
♥ Every child must be accompanied by an adult guardian, but all family
members are invited and welcome!
IMPORTANT NOTES & FAQs:
♥ Attire should be school-appropriate. Saigling dress code applies. *However, students
should feel free to dress up and have fun!!!
♥ Many students are discussing attending together, in groups, etc. Students may attend with
other families as long as (1) they have purchased their own ticket and (2) there is a
designated adult responsible for the student - parent should indicate on the ticket
purchase form if student is attending with another adult and family. We ask that there be at
least one adult per 3 children.
♥ We are so thrilled with all the excitement this dance has already created amongst the
students. We hope to see everyone there! This is a family activity and school fundraiser so
it is our hope that families are able to attend together for an evening of fun, food and
music!
♥ Don't miss out on our first Spring Fundraiser, which helps make many of the school's
programs possible: like Field Trips, Fine Arts Night, Math's a Big Deal, the Carnival, 5th
Grade Campout and much more!
