Chester is a modern and contemporary city, rich in history and culture. One of eight
world famous British Heritage cities, Chester welcomes over eight million tourists each
year with a wide variety of attractions. Ideally placed in the North West of England, it is
less than an hour from Manchester and Liverpool, just a two hour direct train journey to
London and close to both the beautiful Welsh coast and mountains. The ancient Roman
walls still surround Chester’s city centre, which along with the renowned Cathedral,
Eastgate Clock, and Roman Amphitheatre, demonstrate its 2000 year old heritage.
Enjoy a cruise on the river, a day at the races or our annual music festival. Visit the UK’s
largest zoo, shark dive in the aquarium or celebrate festivities in the Christmas markets.
Participate in a cycle race, marathon or parade. See the unique Chester Rows galleries,
home to some of the best shopping in Britian, or try one of our many international and
award winning restaurants. Whatever your interests, come and experience it here in
Chester!
Chester offers you an excellent backdrop for your studies and you will see that the
University of Chester is ideally placed to furnish you with the skills, knowledge and
experience you need to flourish in your chosen career.
The University of Chester has a long and distinguished history of academic excellence
and community involvement. In choosing Chester, you will be selecting a world-class
University with strong learning traditions that challenge you to give the best of yourself
in your academic work, whilst simultaneously allowing you the freedom to enjoy the city,
countryside, and rest of the UK. In return, we will give you one of the best experiences
of your life.

Catering Services
Students’ Union
International Student Support
We offer a few meal schemes designed for students
living in self-catered accommodation or private sector
accommodation. The plans allow students to eat in our
main dining halls, and provide an easy alternative to home
cooking.
Chester Students’ Union (CSU) represents every student
at the University of Chester. With offices on both the
Chester and Warrington Campuses, our CSU centre has
been built to improve the student experience. We do this
through social, sporting, and non-sporting activities.
Lunchtime offers choices between a two-course meal or
freshly made sandwiches, and also a salad and snack bar.
The evening meal is a main course together with either a
starter or a dessert, and also features our ‘Taste of the World’
menu.
The CSU organises big events with well-known DJ’s, and
also hosts comedy nights, karaoke, quiz nights, live music
and big-screen sports. With a range of clubs and societies,
you will be sure to find one that suits your interests.
The international Office provides a wide range of support
services to new and continuing international students. It is
the first point of contact when international students make an
enquiry or application. Friendly and supportive staff will assist
with your enrolment and induction. We work with colleagues
throughout the University to ensure you settle into life here at
Chester and are able to access the help you need.
Our award winning chefs provide a wide range of freshly
cooked meals with each outlet offering a different style
of food. We can cater for special diets and Halal or Kosher
meals are also available.
We offer a dedicated and confidential student advice and
welfare department which provides all students with support
to help with any personal, social, academic or financial issues
throughout your time with us. The International Welfare
Office within the department organises pick-up services from
the airport on specified dates before the start of the term,
and issues a ‘Welcome Handbook’ to each new international
student on arrival. We also organise an ‘Induction Week’ for
all new students which includes essential documentation,
registration, and social activities to help you become familiar
with your new surroundings. We will also assist you in opening
a bank account. In addition, we also arrange cultural events
and visits to local tourist attractions throughout the year.
