EAT YOUR HEART OUT
February 5 – March 1, 2015
Studios on the Park invites you to submit work for “Eat Your Heart Out,” our only juried exhibition of
2015. The special month long exhibition showcases original artworks inspired by your appetite’s
objects of affection.
Grandma always said that when you love someone you cook for them. This act, cooking, is love made
manifest. Meals have a way of capturing memories, emotions and feelings by pulling all of the senses
into a specific moment. It is the lingering of that moment that has inspired so many artists of the past.
The Danish movie Babette’s Feast comes to mind in particular. One’s personal narrative wrapped in
“food memories” is the fodder for this show’s creative expression. The more personal, the better.
Curator, juror, artist and organic farmer Joe Thomas dares you to reveal something about yourself. Love
and Food signify intimate, revelatory moments of the universal, what it means to be human. Can a work
of art touch upon that? Joe thinks so! He welcomes submissions in all styles and media dealing with
this theme, love and food.
Local superstar chefs and culinary artists Laurent Grangien of Bistro Laurent, Chris Kobayashi of Artisan,
Maegen Loring of Niner Wine Estates, and Santos MacDonal of Il Cortile, will be looking for personal
vision and creative approach as well as excellence in execution. Each chef/judge will award a gift
certificate towards a dinner at their respective restaurants. Two bottles of Thomas Hill Vineyards wine
will accompany each award certificate.

GUIDELINES:
Original works in any medium.
All works must be for sale, prefer prices under $500.
Up to 70 works will be selected depending on the size.
$15 for 1 entry, $25 for 2 entries, $10 for each additional entry.
No entry limit but entry fees are nonrefundable.
All works must be delivered ready-to-view (not wrapped or packaged).
2D works must be ready-to-hang (professionally framed/wired or gallery wrapped with painted sides).
2D can be NO LARGER than 74” height and width (recommend 8”x10” + 12”x12” + 12”x16”).
3D works must be able to be lifted easily – artists must place works over 15 lb.
Jewelry must be submitted ready-to-display.
40% commission on all sales benefits Studios on the Park’s critical arts services to children and adults.
PERMISSION TO REPRODUCE YOUR WORK:
Work featured in the “Eat Your Heart Out” exhibition is subject to reproduction(s) as it is tradition for
Studios on the Park to thank their donors with a special reproduction of exceptional work from the
February exhibition. Special reproductions are given to donors at the annual Sweet Art Fundraiser
Luncheon. The 2015 luncheon is in honor of Paso Robles community leader Nancy Beckett and will
feature lots and lots of art. Net proceeds of this annual event benefit the 2015 PASO ARTSFEST, a
program of Studios on the Park. Studios on the Park is responsible for reproduction of the selected
