God our Creator, we confess that we are broken, sinful
creatures. You spoke to us through the prophets, yet we have
not kept your commands. You give a new teaching through
Jesus, yet we fail to obey your living Word. Forgive us, God of
grace. Set us free from the grip of sin, cast out all that is evil
within us, and bring us ever closer to you; through Jesus

ANNOUNCEMENTS
Welcome to our visitors today! We are glad you are here and we hope
you will join us for worship again. If you are interested in joining our
church, there are three ways you may do so. They are: transfer of letter
from your church of previous membership, reaffirmation of faith if you
have already been baptized; and baptism and affirmation of faith if you
have not been baptized. If you are interested in joining, please ask our
pastor or a ruling elder for more details.
Please use the friendship register to indicate your presence in
worship. Pass the register back to the center aisle and note those who
are seated with you on the pew and greet them following the worship
service. If you are visiting with us for the first time, please include your
address, telephone number, and e-mail as well.
Children are welcome and invited to worship with us in many
ways! There are worship bags and Children’s Bulletins in the narthex.
Children of all ages (even grown-up children) are invited to come
forward at the Time with the Young Disciples. Children 4 years old
through 2nd grade are invited to Children’s Worship with their
leader after the Time with the Young Disciples. Children in 3rd grade
and above are encouraged to worship with their families. There is a
nursery downstairs beneath the narthex for children ages birth
through 3-years-old during the entire service.
Need help hearing the service? Receivers connected to the sound
system are available in the Narthex. Just ask an usher.
Sympathy of the congregation is extended to David Garland on the
death of this sister, Marion Jane Garland, on Friday, January 23, 2015
in Bethany, Connecticut.
Congratulations to Susan and John Hatchett on the birth of their
daughter, Lillian Ann Hatchett, on January 24, 2015. The red rose on
the lectern is placed in honor of Lillian Ann. Evan is the proud big
brother.
Congratulations to Jon and Kristen Tatum on the birth of their son,
Miles Bolden Tatum, on December 17, 2014 in Richmond, VA. Proud
grandmother is Barbara Tatum. He is also the nephew of Neil and Kym
Tatum.

America will celebrate their 105th Anniversary! Look for them to be
included in the service.
Presbytery of the Peaks Meeting in Lynchburg, Saturday, February
14, 2015. Find out what’s happening in this Presbytery and in the
denomination by attending a meeting.
The Mission committee is excited to announce a joint service project
with Holy Trinity Lutheran Church on Saturday, March 14 from 9 to
10:30 a.m. Together we will be picking up trash along the Dick and
Willie Trail. We hope you will join us in fellowship and service with
