MISSION STATEMENT
St. Francis Xavier Church is a
welcoming, caring community, alive
in faith and full of hope in Christ.
FEBRUARY 8, 2015
Welcome Visitors and Friends!
Thank you for joining Us!
Welcome Msgr. David Baumgartner!
This weekend we welcome and thank Msgr. David Baumgartner for
celebrating our mass with us. Your ministry and presence are
deeply appreciated and may you always be blessed for you dedication to our Church.
Liturgy of the Hours: Week I of the Psalter
In the gospel Simon says to Jesus, “everyone is
looking for you.” Jesus is having great success
healing many people and driving out demons.
All who encounter him adore him. People are
paying great attention to him-”The whole
town was gathered” at the door of Simon and
Andrew’s house. Nonetheless, Jesus moves on
to other villages. His ministry is not about drawing attention to
himself, but about preaching the Good News of salvation. Yet
his ministry is about himself, for he is the Good News.
Our Love and Prayers go out to: Marie, sister of Nora Wild, Gloria

Anointing of the Sick
Our Prayers and Sympathies go out
to Loyse Porter, in the loss of her
brother, Rolland Porter, who died this
past week. May you know and feel
God’s love in your loss, through the
love of your family and parish families.
“Rising very early before dawn, he left and went off to a
deserted place, where he prayed…He told them, ‘Let us
go on to the nearby villages that I may preach there
also. For this purpose have I come.’” – Mark 1:35, 38

“THANK YOU FOR SERVING”
In today’s Gospel reading we see a perfect example of
stewardship. Jesus gives His time to do all that God
wishes - healing the sick and preaching. Yet, Jesus also
makes time to be alone in prayer. It is through prayer,
spending time with God, that we find the strength to do
what God wishes us to do. Be sure to find time every
day to be with God.

"Faithful people continue to give their lives in
service to Christ's Church.
Video presentations on certain 20th century martyrs
will be shown on the upcoming 2nd and 4th Sundays
of the month immediately after Sunday Mass.
Our first session, which is 60 minutes in length, will be
held on February 8th, and we will hear the powerful
story of the four nuns killed in El Salvador in 1980.
Grab your cup of coffee after Mass, and join us as we
learn from those who gave their lives as they served
others."
I wish to thank any & all who have included my brother, Rolland Porter, in
their prayers over these last months. I
just received word this morning, 2-4-14,
that he has died. It was a long, long battle. Like
the soldier he had been, he fought a good battle.
Now he is at peace.
Again, thank you! Loyse

DAA Begins Today
The 2015 DAA begins today. Our parish DAA
goal is $7,528. Let us all prayerfully consider
how we might help our parish meet its goal
this year and support the ministries and work
of the Diocese of Crookston, including Vocations and Seminarian Education.
Each of you should have received your DAA
mailing last week. If you haven’t yet, please
take some time to look it over, and keep the
detachable card with Seminarian photos and
addresses to help remind you to pray for them
and mail them a note of encouragement.
Extra DAA envelopes and prayer request
cards are available during Mass today and
next weekend, and collected at the end of
Mass.
You may also make a gift online at
www.crookston.org/DAA or call the Office of
Stewardship & Development toll-free at 1-855397-8252 for assistance.
March is Minnesota Food Share Month
Please bring food items or money during March.
100% of funds donated in March go to the Food
Pantry.

not something abstract, but
profoundly concrete: it means
