“I told them how the hand of my God had been favorable to me and also about the king's words which he had spoken to me.
Then they said, Let us arise and build. So they put their hands to the good work.” - Nehemiah 2:18

Counseling Available
Did you know that New Mount
Olive offers Christian counseling for
children, adults, and couples?
Contact Rev. Morton at the church or email her at [email protected]. Counseling is available for both
members and non-members.
We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and
earth, of all that is, seen and unseen.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally
begotten of the Father, God from God, light from light, true God from
true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father; through him
all things were made.
For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven, was incarnate of
the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary and became truly human.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and
was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the
Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the
Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and
his kingdom will have no end.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds
from the Father [and the Son], who with the Father and the Son is
worshiped and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church.
We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to
come. Amen.

Bible Tip for Managing Your Finances
The Bible teaches that saving money is a wise practice for many different reasons. God is our source and
provider for everything we need. “And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19). One of the main ways God provides for us is through money, and it is
our job to steward that money well (Matthew 25:14–27).
Financial Peace = Family Peace
MONEY FIGHTS & MONEY PROBLEMS CAN WEAKEN YOUR MARRIAGE

Health & Wellness Ministry
February is National Children’s Dental Month
Children’s teeth are meant to last a lifetime, and a healthy smile is important to a child’s self-esteem. A
balanced diet, limiting snacks, brushing and flossing each day and regular dental check-ups are the keys
to a lifetime of healthy teeth and gums. This month the American Dental Society is promoting “Fight
Monster Mouth”. To fight Monster Mouth and promote good oral health follow this simple rule,
“2min2x.” That’s code for “brush your teeth two minutes, two times a day. For more information on
children’s dental health month see: www.ada.org/en/public-programs/national-childrens-dental-health
-month/ or pick up a flyer at the S Desk on “Fighting Monster Mouth”.
February is American Heart Month
February is American Heart Month. See below for tips from the Center for Disease Control. For more
information on American Heart Month see website: http://www.cdc.gov/Features/HeartMonth/.
During the month of February, Americans see the human heart as the symbol of love. February is
American Heart Month, a time to show yourself the love. Learn about your risks for heart disease and
stroke and stay "heart healthy" for yourself and your loved ones.
Plan for Prevention
Try out these strategies for better heart health. You'll be surprised how many of them can become lifelong habits! Work with your health care team. Get a checkup at least once each year, even if you feel
healthy. A doctor, nurse, or other health care professional can check for conditions that put you at risk
for CVD, such as high blood pressure and diabetes—conditions that can go unnoticed for too long.
Monitor your blood pressure. High blood pressure often has no symptoms, so be sure to have it checked
on a regular basis. You can check your blood pressure at home, at a pharmacy, or at a doctor's office.
Find more information at CDC's High Blood Pressure website www.cdc.gov/bloodpressure. Get your
cholesterol checked. Your health care team should test your cholesterol levels at least once every 5
years. Talk with your health care professional about this simple blood test. You can find out more from
CDC's High Cholesterol Website www.cdc.gov/cholesterol.

Understanding Depression
What are the signs of depression?
If you have felt many of these symptoms nearly every day for two weeks or longer, you may have clinical depression,
not just common sadness:
• Depressed mood: feeling sad, tearful, irritable, or easily angered
• Little interest or pleasure in activities you used to enjoy
• Increase or decrease in appetite or weight
• Sleeping much more or much less than usual
• Restlessness or decreased activity
• Fatigue or loss of energy
• Feelings of worthlessness or guilt
• Difficulty concentrating or making decisions
• Thoughts of death or suicide
• Persistent negative thoughts
Sometimes depression can manifest as anxiety, with symptoms such as:
• Trouble sleeping
• Tense feelings
• Preoccupation with unpleasant or irrational worries
• Fear that something awful might happen
What causes depression?
Depression is not a sign that you are weak. Depression is a common, treatable and serious medical condition. Depression is usually the result of several factors, such as:
Stressful events: such as job loss, financial strain, conflict in relationship, death of a loved one. Stresses may be recent
of may build gradually.
Family History: depression is more common in people who have close relatives with depression.
Medical condition: pain, chronic disease, loss of function, or other illness can lead to depression, as can hormone
changes, such as during menstrual cycles, post-partum and menopause.
How is depression treated?
Some or all of the following steps may be appropriate, depending on your own wishes and the severity of your depression. Discuss these options with your doctor.
Lifestyle changes are recommended for all people with depression, including:
Exercising regularly
Healthy eating
Setting a routine sleep pattern
Avoiding alcohol and other recreational drugs
Spending time with friends and loved ones
Depression is treatable. The first step is to seek help.
