FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is Harmony with Medica and Fairview?
Medica and Fairview have worked together to create a plan for individuals purchasing
healthcare coverage on their own, where insurance and providers work as a team to
help you towards better health.
Harmony with Medica and Fairview is designed to make health care simpler, more
personal, and more affordable. This is the first health plan of its kind in Minnesota.
Care is offered exclusively through the Fairview Health Network, with a comprehensive
Travel Program network, offering in-network level of coverage outside of Medica’s
service area.
Care and coverage are coordinated – working in tandem for you. The result is lower
costs. More simplicity. And most important of all – better outcomes. This is Harmony
with Medica and Fairview.
What makes Harmony unique?
Unlike any other type of plan, care and coverage are independent, but working together.
This assures that you get the best of both, integrated into one plan. You have a single
resource for all your needs: appointments, care, billing, coverage questions, and more.
Members can call one phone number (952.992.2620; 888.592.8206), 24 hours
a day, seven days a week, for questions about coverage and care, or go online to
CoverageAndCare.com
What’s the big deal about one phone number?
You can call this one number for anything, from learning about what’s covered to
scheduling an appointment with a Fairview doctor. You’re not ping-ponged between
your provider and your insurance company.
How do I find a provider or facility near my home or work?
It’s easy. Go to CoverageAndCare.com
Fairview Health Network includes nearly 2,000 physicians. You can see both primary and
specialty care providers across the Twin Cities Metro area. The Fairview Health Network
is “open access”. You may see any primary or specialty care provider within the Fairview
Health Network without a referral.
If you receive care from a provider or facility/hospital outside the Fairview Health Network,
your costs will be much higher and you may be responsible for paying the entire cost of
the services you receive.
Will I have to give up anything?
Harmony is among the most affordable plans in the Twin Cities market, without sacrificing
the level of coverage and benefits available with more expensive plans. You will have
open access to the Fairview Health Network in the Twin Cities area, with nearly 2,000
physicians, over 350 primary and specialty clinics, and all the Fairview hospitals in the
Twin Cities. It’s important to note that if you receive non-emergency care outside of the
Fairview Health Network but within Medica’s service area (Minnesota, North Dakota,
South Dakota and western Wisconsin), your coverage will be at the lower out-of-network
level, which means you will pay more out of your own pocket. For more information about the
Fairview Health Network, click on “Find a Physician or Facility” on CoverageAndCare.com.
How are prescription drugs covered?
Prescription drug coverage may vary according to your own specific needs.
You can review the complete information in the summary of coverage found
on CoverageAndCare.com
Do I have to use a Fairview pharmacy?
No, except for specialty drugs. Specialty drugs include, but are not limited to,
high technology prescription drug products for individuals with diseases that
require complex therapies. You’ll probably find it easier and more convenient
if you do use a Fairview pharmacy, plus you’ll receive a gift card if you move
your existing prescriptions to a Fairview pharmacy.
Can I get a discount on my health club membership?
Yes. Go for it! Information on Medica’s Fit Choices program is found on
CoverageAndCare.com
What is Virtual Care?
Fairview Virtual Care is designed to be quick, more convenient and less expensive than
seeing a doctor in person. It makes it easy to connect to a medical professional whenever
you need, wherever you are, on a 24/7 basis.
How much does it cost?
The charge is $55 or less which is much less than a traditional office visit for a webcam
video consultation with a medical professional.
If I’m traveling outside of the Fairview service area will I still
have coverage?
Yes. You can get care (at the in-network coverage level) from more than 668,000
physicians and care professionals and 5,100 hospitals throughout the United States
as part of our nationwide network.
However, when traveling inside Medica’s service area (MN, ND, SD and western
Wisconsin), you must stay within the Fairview Health Network or receive authorization
from the Fairview Health Network to receive your highest level of coverage.
Of course, this requirement is waived for medical emergencies.
Can I use Harmony with my HSA?
Yes. It’s available to be paired with a tax-advantaged health savings account
(HSA) or a traditional copay-style plan.
Are you going to share my health information with Fairview?
Yes, in some cases where it’s medically beneficial.
How long does the application process take?
Less than a week for most applications. Some may take slightly longer if we
have to contact you with follow-up questions or request medical records.
