Assault and rape suspect arrested
On January 30, 2015
Hanford Police Officers
responded to the 600 Block of
East Malone for a domestic
violence call of service. While
on the scene officers quickly
discovered a 16 year old
female victim who had been
severely beaten and raped over
the course of five days. She
was reported as a runaway out
of Avenal two weeks ago.
The victim was struck several times with a vehicle tire
iron. This caused severe injury
to both her arms and legs. The
victim was unable to leave the
vehicle as her hands were tied
up and she lost the use of her
legs due to injury. The victim
was able to scream for help
as a citizen of Hanford
walked past her vehicle.
Perez was not in the vehicle
at this time. The victim was
transported to a local hospital
where she has undergone surgery and is being treated for
her injuries. Police searched
door to door until Perez was
located at a nearby apartment.
The suspect Eddie Perez,19,
was taken into custody
Saturday night. Some of the
crimes he was charged with
include four counts of assault
with a deadly weapon, specifically a tire iron, three counts of
rape with a minor, torture, battery, and attempted murder
totaling 16 charges. When the
prosecutors read Perez his
charges in court Monday, he
shook his head in disbelief. He
looked shocked when they
charged him with attempted
murder and cried through
most the arraignment. Perez
is being held in the Kings
County Jail and his bail is
set at $6,850,000.
