Welcome to St. Helena Church
Our Church is a center for spiritual growth, where
positive attitudes are developed, where good people
become better, where hurts are healed, where lessons are
learned, where friendships are developed, where marriages
restless find peace, where love is alive, where God is

048 St. Helena – Rt. P
"A QUIEN BUSCAN"? .
vives? Jesús dijo: "vengan y verán"! Jesús fascina. Es fiel. Nunca falla. No has escuchado su voz?
Transubstantiation
During the epiclesis or invocation, God is called upon to send the Holy Spirit and
transform the bread and wine into the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ. During
consecration, when the priest speaks, "This is my body," the substance of the bread is
transformed into the Body of Jesus Christ. The priest then shows the Host to the
people and places the consecrated Host on the paten. When the priest speaks, "This
is my blood," the substance of the wine is transformed in the Blood of Jesus Christ.
The priest shows the Chalice to the people and places the consecrated wine on the
corporal.
Memorial Acclamation
After the Chalice has been shown to the people the priest invites the people to
proclaim the Mystery of Faith.
Remembrance
After the memorial acclamation the priest invites us to "Call to mind" or remember the
great events of our salvation, death, Resurrection and Ascension of our Lord, Jesus
Christ.
Our new project is to benefit our frail and elderly parishioners, especially our new members
from Incarnation Church. We are making plans to purchase a van that would allow the frail,
elderly and others of St. Helena Parish needing transportation to participate in Sunday Liturgy.
Our Vietnamese Knights of Columbus have volunteered to drive and pick-up those in need of
transportation. To make this possible, we invite your participation in helping to sell or
purchase our 50/50 eVANgelization Van 50/50 tickets. Tickets are available through Sr.
Sophie or contact the rectory. Cost is $5.00 a ticket or 5 for $20.00. Drawing will take place on
April 11, 2015. From the proceeds: 50% will go to the purchase of the van, 25% to the first
prize winner, 15% to the second prize winner, and 10% to the third prize winner.

Today we celebrate the 2nd Sunday in Ordinary Time. Imagine you are an aspiring
violinist searching for a mentor and teacher. By a stroke of good fortune, you manage to secure as
your mentor the person you consider to be the greatest violin player in the world. At once you
begin to study under him and hone your skills, soaking up everything you can learn from this
master. One day after your lesson, however, he tells you that he wants to introduce you to another
violinist who is, in his estimation, a far superior musician than he will ever be. In fact, he suggests
to you that if you really want to experience and learn music as it is meant to be played on the violin,
then this true master is the man under whom you should begin to study.
In a sense, this is what is happening here in our gospel today. John the Baptist is a great
prophet. Jesus himself once called him the greatest prophet who ever lived. Naturally, John has
picked up a few disciples, men who are devoted to him as their spiritual leader. But now, John has
recognized that somebody else has come along who is far greater then he will ever be. In fact,
when Jesus shows, John realizes that he is now in the presence of One whose sandals he is not even
worthy to untie. He may be a prophet, but this man is the Lamb of God, the Son of the Most High,
the very Savior of the world. As we return to ordinary time, let us take Jesus as our Master violin
player and learn from him.
I ask that you remember in your prayers our parish children who are preparing for their First
Reconciliation. This will be the first time these children will experience the loving forgiveness of
Jesus.
I invite all to consider praying the family rosary as suggested by the committee on the
World Meeting of Families as a way to come closer to the Lord and as a family.
Finally, many are asking about when St. Helena will have confirmation. As of now, we
have not received any notification from the Archdiocese as to when this will take place. As soon as
we hear, we will let you know. Thanks for reading and have a good week!
Your Brother & Shepherd,
Rev. Msgr. Joseph Trinh
