We have come from everywhere, to this one place, bringing the richness of many cultures and traditions to this one faith. We seek to be a place where the Gospel dismantles all barriers and where life is shared. We; therefore, welcome all and grow to be one in the Lord Jesus Christ, especially in our celebration of the Eucharist. Together we witness to the presence of God in our lives by hearing the Gospel proclaimed and by bringing that Gospel to all in our Community. We all know it. In their vulnerability, they let us know that they need nourishment or need to be held. We know that this is true of the newborn Jesus. The Eternal Word made flesh shares the human vulnerability of every other infant on earth. And this infant vulnerability—their need and their smallness— draws us close to them. We may grow up, but we never leave behind our fundamental vulnerability. In different ways, we continue to cry for sustenance, for mercy, for strength, for healing, and for connection and communion. In our vulnerability, God draws close to us, as Scripture says, with bands of love. When our deepest needs and vulnerabilities prompt us to cry, the Lord draws us to himself through sacramental signs and rituals. He hears our every cry, and the sacraments of the Church tell us that this is true. h p://archchicago.org/StrategicPastoralPlan/Sacraments Todos lo sabemos. The Twelve Days of Christmas From the year 1558 to 1829, the Roman Catholic Church in England was forbidden to openly practice the faith. Members of the church developed ways to communicate the gift of faith in a coded song known as the twelve days of Christmas. Listed below are the various explanations of the symbols. The twelve dates were from December 25 (Christmas) until January 6(epiphany), the “true love” referred to God. The repetition of the melody signified God’s continual renewal of His gifts.
