From the Pastor’s Desk
Del Escritorio del Pastor
Dear parishioners and friends:
Queridos feligreses y amigos:
The Parish Pastoral Council
One of the responsibilities of a new pastor is to
begin a process for the selection of a new Pastoral
Council is to advise and help me as we move forward
and develop a Pastoral Plan for the parish. Under the
guidelines established by the diocese, the Parish Pastoral
Council serves as the planning body that a parish uses to
formulate its pastoral plan. I see the Pastoral Council
not as a body that informs the pastor of what is
happening in the parish now, but as a body that looks
ahead and advises the pastor of where we need to go in
the future. With input from the whole parish we reflect
upon our priorities, needs, strengths and weaknesses and
we strive to take the parish to the next level of growth.
Most importantly, as a parish family we think about how
we can grow and become missionary disciples. How can
we reach out to those who left the regular practice of the
faith? How can we invite those who are seeking for
meaning in their life to find the Joy of the Gospel and of
life in Christ? How can we become a welcoming
community to people of all languages and cultures and
help others to know and love our Lord Jesus Christ?
These are some of the questions we need to think about
together and plan around.
We will begin the process of establishing our
Pastoral Council in the next few weeks. With the help of
an experienced facilitator we will have a series of
discernment meetings for those interested in serving the
parish in this capacity. Once the council is formed and
guidelines and by-laws are adopted we will initiate a
series of parish meetings to gather information from you,
the people of our parish, and start the process of
formulating a pastoral plan to address some of the
questions I raised above.
I thank all those who served Father Joe and the
parish on the Pastoral Council these past few years and
welcome you to consider being a part of the new council
when we begin this process. I am blessed to be your
pastor and I ask you to pray for me and for the Parish of
Our Lady of Guadalupe as we seek to build the Body of
Christ in our community. Thank you for all you do for
us.
misioneros. ¿Cómo podemos llegar a aquellos que dejaron
la práctica regular de la fe? ¿Cómo podemos invitar a
conocer y amar a nuestro Señor Jesucristo?
Padre Vicente
God Bless you and your Families,
Fr. Vincent

Stewardship Calling
“Now the Lord has spoken who formed me as his servant
from the womb...” ISAIAH 49:5A
You have to do what God is calling you to do and I have to do
what God is calling me to do. Guess what, each Steward has
been given a different plan! So, stop comparing yourself to
others. Don’t let envy and jealousy enter your life. Be
thankful for the gifts God has given you and generously share
them with others.

Building and Maintenance Fund
In November, I sent a letter to all registered parishioners and asked you to think about making a contribution to our
Building and Maintenance Fund to help us in the upkeep and beautification of our Churches and Buildings. Thank you
for your generous response. To date, that collection has raised $38,700. This will enable us to procure a new roof for
the parish office because now our roof leaks whenever it rains. In the future, if funds allow, I hope to add a handicap
bathroom in St. Lawrence Church. (If you have used those bathrooms I do not have to explain to you the need). You
can still make a donation to this fund, just simply use the form on the letter I sent in November or send to the parish
office and designates the Building and Maintenance Fund. Thank you again for your understanding and generosity.
Shrine Project
I encourage you to visit the newly painted shrine to Our Lady of Guadalupe and the new shrine dedicated to St. Juan
Diego. The bright colors and roses on the wall capture the brilliance of the apparition. As you notice, the color of the
wall, with the stars attached, match the tilma of Our Lady. The image we want to project is that when you enter the
shrine you are being embraced in the mantle of Our Blessed Mother, our Compassionate Mother. Bring to Our Lady of
Guadalupe your fears, worries and concerns. Also, the new Shrine to St. Juan Diego captures his story as you see the
incredulous bishop, the roses, and the new church the Virgin Mary asked him to build. There is still a little work to be
done to complete this project. Next, we will beautify the St. Joseph Shrine on the right side of the Altar and create a
shrine area that will tell the story of St. Lawrence, similar in nature to what we created for St. Juan Diego. This work
should begin soon. Thank you for your patience.

paciencia.
