If your student is absent from school, please ensure that you are sending
an excuse note with your student when they return to school. It is
important that we have this documentation on file for any day that your
student is absent. If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Castillo at
713-924-0638.
Dear Fabulous Parents of YES Prep Fifth Ward,
Thank you for coming to our Hispanic Heritage potluck dinners this week. The
time and effort you dedicated to making delicious food is very much appreciated
by the teachers and staff here at Fifth Ward. Thank you for making our school a
strong and supportive community. You are setting an excellent example for your
wonderful children, and we are very grateful for you!
Afterschool Pick-up
As a reminder, the academic day at YES Prep Fifth Ward begins at 7:45 AM
and concludes at 4:15 PM with the exception of Wednesdays when school
ends at 1:15 PM. Recently, we have seen an increase in the number of
students who are not being picked up from school in a timely fashion.
Students should be picked up from school within 30 minutes of dismissal.

Titan Family Festival is COMING SOON!
Starting next week, if you are picking your student up after 4:45 PM, you
will need to come into the front office to sign out your student with the
staff member on duty. Additionally, we will begin distributing notices to
families and students depending on the number of times your student is
picked up late.

Please help us ensure student and staff safety by communicating after
school plans with your students and picking students up as soon as possible
after school.
School Pictures
Lifetouch will be present on October 20, 2014 to take yearbook pictures
and individual photos. Please be on the lookout for more information on
the abilities to purchase your pictures.
Titan Spirit Week – October 14th- 17th
Next week we will celebrate Titan Spirit Week! On Tuesday, October 14th we will
start the week with Maroon Out to support our girls volleyball team as they
battle for the Pride of 59 Trophy against our District Rivals, the Northside
Pride! Please join us at Northside for the game. Below is a schedule of what
students may wear during Titan Spirit Week:

A Message from Athletics, Mr. Little
Reminder About Games
We love to have our Titans attending athletic events on and off campus!
Athletic events are a great way for students to show their school pride,
support their friends, and to bond with our Titans (including our staff). To
ensure that game days run smoothly we have two reminders:
1.
Please ensure that your student is getting picked up at least 15
minutes after the end of the game. Students who are picked up late 3 times
may lose the privilege to attend athletic events.

Note: If you student is not participating in Spirit Week wear for the day, the expectation is that they are in regular school uniforms.
Lanyards and ID’s
Students received reminders this week to have their lanyard on with their ID at
all times throughout the day. Beginning on Tuesday, October 14th, if a student is
not wearing their lanyard and ID, they will receive a mark. It is a $1 charge for a
replacement lanyard and $5 if their ID is lost. Please help us hold students accountable and keep our campus safe.
2.
On game days students may not wander around campus until
the game starts. If they are already afterschool for tutorials or ACE they are
more than welcomed to come down to the game afterwards. However if
students are not staying for ACE or tutorials, they will need to go home and
return to school no earlier than 5:30pm. Students who are seen wandering
after 4:25pm will be required to call home and be picked up from campus,
and will not be allowed to attend the athletic event that day.
Your students safety is our number one priority. Ensuring that your
students understand these two policies will help us to ensure that all
students are safe and secure while on campus.
Rivalry Game!
Our High School Volleyball team will be playing YES Prep Northside on
Tuesday, October 14th at YES Prep Northside! The volleyball game will be a
part of our SPIRIT WEEK FESTIVITIES! We will be providing transportation to
YES Prep Northside for Titans who would like to attend the game. The bus
will leave promptly at 5:25pm and return around 6:45pm. Students who
are not a part of ACE on Tuesdays or tutorials should be dropped off on
campus at 5:20 in order to board the bus. Parents will need to arrange
transportation for students from YES Prep Fifth Ward to their homes.

Estimados padres fabulosos de YES Prep Fifth Ward,
Gracias por venir a nuestras cenas de la Herencia Hispana esta semana. El tiempo y el
esfuerzo que dedica a hacer comida deliciosa es muy apreciada por los maestros y el
personal aquí en Fifth Ward. Gracias por hacer de nuestra escuela una comunidad
fuerte y por el poyo de usted. Usted á configurando un excelente ejemplo para sus
hijos maravillosos, y estamos muy agradecidos por usted!

Como recordatorio , el día académico en YES Prep Fifth Ward comienza a las 7:45 am y sus SSC
termina a las 4:15 pm con excepción de los miércoles cuando la escuela termina a las
Festival de la Familia Titan viene pronto!

po de voleibol femenino en su lucha por el orgullo de 59 contra nuestros rivales DisTercer Salida Tarde- Reunión Obligatoria con la Directora de la Escuela para revisar el trito, el orgullo de Northside! Por favor, únase a nosotros en Northside para el juego.

Recordatorio Sobre Juegos
Nos encantaría tener nuestros Titanes que asisten a eventos deportivos y fuera de la
escuela! Eventos deportivos son una gran manera para que los estudiantes muestren
su orgullo de la escuela, apoyen a sus amigos, y para vincularse con otros Titanes.
(incluyendo nuestro personal) Para asegurarse de que los días de juego funcionen sin
problemas tenemos dos recordatorios.:

Nota: Si el estudiante no participa en el desgaste de la Semana del Espíritu Titan para
el día, la expectativa es que usen los uniformes escolares regulares.
Por favor, asegúrese de que su hijo está siendo recogido por lo menos 15 minutos después del final del juego. Los estudiantes que son recogidos tarde 3 veces
pueden perder el privilegio de asistir a los eventos atléticos.
2. Los días de partido los estudiantes no pueden vagar por el campus de la escuela
hasta que se inicia el juego. Si ya se quedan después de clases para tutoriales o ACE
son más que bienvenidos a venir al juego después. Sin embargo, si los estudiantes no
se quedan para ACE o tutoriales, se tendrá que ir a casa y volver a la escuela no antes
de las 5:30 pm. Los estudiantes que están deambulando después de 4:25 pm tendrán
que llamar a casa y ser recogido de la escuela, y no se les permitirá asistir al evento
deportivo ese día.
IDs y Collares
Los estudiantes recibieron recordatorios de esta semana para tener su collar con su
identificación en todo momento durante el día. A partir del martes, 14 de octubre, si
un estudiante no está usando su collar y de identificación, recibiran una marca. Es un
cargo de $1 por un collar de reemplazo y $5 por ID en caso que se les piérda. Por
favor ayúdenos que sus estudiantes sean responsables y mantener nuestra escuela
segura.
La seguridad de nuestro estudiantes es nuestra prioridad número uno. Asegurarse de
que los alumnos comprendan estas dos polízas nos ayudará a garantizar que todos los
estudiantes están a salvo y seguro mientras en la escuela.
Juego de Rivalidad!
Nuestro equipo de Voleibol de Preparatoria juega contra YES Prep Northside el martes
14 de octubre en YES Prep Northside! El partido de voleibol será una parte de nuestras
FESTIVIDADES DE LA SEMANA DE ESPIRITU TITAN! Vamos a proporcionar el transporte
a YES Prep Northside de los Titanes que deseen asistir al partido. El autobús saldrá
puntualmente a las 5:25 pm y regresa alrededor de 6:45 pm. Los estudiantes que no
son parte de ACE, los martes o tutorías deben ser dejados en la escuela a las 5:20 pm
para poder abordar el autobús. Los padres tendrán que organizar el transporte para
los estudiantes de YES Prep Fifth Ward a sus hogares.
